Avast on experia u?

I have Avast on my phone. The main reason I installed it is the location and anti-theft feature, as it competes with what you would have to pay for with Lookout but for free. The network monitor is a huge battery hog so I disable that.. and the SMS scanner because I'm paranoid they're reading my messages. The firewall works really good (if you're rooted). But as far as malware.. it's probably not a big issue but at the same time it's better to be safe than sorry. I have it only scan apps when they are installed. Otherwise it just slows down the phone scanning the same apps over and over.

With all due respect, why bother with it then?

Mainly for the anti-theft features, which work very well from a web page instead of having to text the phone or pay for lookout. No one should own a device that can contain so much personal information and not have a way to locate or wipe it remotely if it's lost or stolen. The firewall works well too, so I was able to uninstall droidwall in favor of an all in one app.

It also has a nice call blocker so my phone doesn't ring from clients over the weekend. I used to use an app called Advanced Call Manager for that. Even if I decided to disable the malware scanner I would still use Avast considering it combines the features of several stand alone apps I use to have, for free.

Has it ever caught anything on your device?
Yup.

I also have it for phone location, but the other day I turned on the scan and installed an app (from the Play Store BTW) that a member was worried might be malware after Lookout flagged it to them, and Avast flagged it immediately.

That was the only thing though.
