Thanks for mentioning this one. I've spent tons of time going through each app listed in the "All" filter in Manage Applications, tediously clearing cache on each app. Cachemate is fabulous!

Don't forget WiFi Tether (enables tethering via WiFi and Bluetooth, to allow you to get an internet connection for your PC or other device that allows ad hoc connection, using your Droid's 3G mobile connection) and Temp Monitor (monitors CPU and battery temps -- a must-have for overclockers).

For those running Cachemate, what's the benefit of running cachemate (what problem does it solve), how do you use it, and any potential down-sides?

GScript Lite - I can set regularly used scripts up as homescreen shortcuts (reboot, shut down, kill ads, reboot into recovery, flash different recovery just to name a few). It has made my life easier for repetitive scripting tasks.

AutoKiller - Helps keep RAM free without manually FCing applications.

From what I can understand, it is nothing like the task killers. It uses Android's built-in memory management, just modifies the thresholds (hence, requires root) so it can be more or less aggressive with how it kicks processes out of the foreground. I put it to Optimal and like it a lot.

I forgot one that I use constantly! It's called Reboot Control Widget. It's a 1x1 widget that I have on my home screen. When you tap it, it brings up the following options: 1) Reboot Handset, 2) Recovery Console (works for either SPRecovery or Clockwork Mod Recovery), 3) Power Down, 4) Boot Loader, or 5) Wipe Handset.

It works better for me than having a reboot option on the power button.

It empties out the cache from all the apps you select, either at a touch of a button by you, or on an automated schedule. It also clears data from apps you select (although the dev notes that this function is experimental). The dev notes that, although data is usually recreated by an app, some data is unecessary and unwanted and builds up over time, taking up precious internal storage on your device.

The app is highly customizable and lets you opt out of clearing cache or data from apps that you don't want cleared. It freed up about 15MB of internal memory storage when I ran it today, with no loss of any functionality that I could ascertain.

Some care should be taken in reviewing the Help pages and going through the settings options so you don't clear stuff that shouldn't be cleared.

No one has mentioned "Quick Boot." Another good app to provide one click reboots, recovery and bootloader from your homescreen. Free and runs great...

I actually tried Quick Boot first, before I paid the couple of bucks for Reboot Control. Quick Boot does what it says it does, but it takes way too long (30 seconds or more before it acts after you select the option), at least for me, to do it. Reboot Control acts instantaneously, or within a couple of seconds at most.

Yep, the description even says it may take up to 30 seconds to react.

Just timed Quick Boot and Boot Control and the lag was identical. I do see that Boot Control has added a few options since I last tried it (it now has Power Down) and it only takes up one icon space on my homescreen (real estate is valuable) so it will stay
