Root Cyanogenmod 10.1 (JB 4.2)

I ran into issues with this ROM. I don't know if it was the ROM or what but MANY of my applications couldn't be restored through TiBu (they would freeze the restore process) and the same applications came up showed in Google Play as not being applicable for my phone. They were installed before the flash. Most of these are mainstream applications like eBuddy, DoubleTwist, Underground Weather, etc... Due to this I had to revert back to restore my nandroid.

What is this expanded desktop feature all about? I gather it simply expands to hide the status bar and nav buttons but why is it useful?

There is an option in the power menu (the one that pops up when you long press the power button) that you can change to extended desktop which hides the nav buttons. That way you don't have to look at them while you are playing a game like Grand Theft Auto or Dead Trigger (just the ones that pop into my head first) that don't auto hide them while playing.

Thanks, I was looking for that this morning, but all I found was a couple CM10.1 Kang threads, not the official one. Subscribed now :thumb:

If you give it a try be sure to write up a little review. I'm perfectly content with stock 4.2.1 at the moment, but my old chronic flashing habits are starting to claw at me. That and pure Cyanogenmod has always been my favorite.

Same here. I'm not quite ready to flash a new ROM, but I want to follow CM development because when I am ready that is what I will be flashing.

I took the plunge and installed the 12/28 nightly with Franco's latest kernel last night. I'll report back after a day or so of usage.
Look forward to hearing about it. I'm a recovering flashaholic so my Nexus is stock at the moment. I love it but I do miss CM. I told myself I was going to wait till a "stable" build was released. But yea I'm curious about battery life, over/under clocking cpu, etc. Overall feel as compared to stock. Thanks!
