Motorola is next Google phone

With Google making this phone from the drawing board to the manufacturing I have a good feeling about this.

I'm curious if this'll be separate from the Nexus line like some articles have said. I'm very interested though. Something I read said they'll have a super top of the line one and an inexpensive one, I'm assuming like the Nexus 4. I'd really like one with expandable storage and all that but with Google involved directly I don't see it happening.

I resisted making this thread because it's not directly about the nexus 4 but if the mods allow it I would just say that I trust Google to do what's right in the long run.

To be honest I don't see how everyone else can compete though. If I was LG, Samsung, HTC, or any other OEM I would seriously be worried about Google becoming the next Apple.

They already have Software supremacy but what if you throw in hardware too? I don't think 90's Microsoft would even begin to describe that...

I would love to have this come out about the same time as the iPhone 5S and galaxy s 4. Then there could be some nice competition all at the same time. But at this point it is really looking like the galaxy s 4 will be my next phone.

The Moto Google phone was basically thought up before moto was even purchased! Its basically along with the patents the reason why Google purchased Motorola in the 1st place. And I for one couldn't have been more pleased at the time, and even more pleased and excited at the moment.

However with that said, I don't think the Moto branded Google phone will wear a nexus badge. I actually think this phone will put the nexus badge to sleep and we will basically see the beginning of what a lot of us have been waiting for...The One and Only Google Phone! Honestly there might not even be a Motorola badge on the phone either, I'm hoping for the beginning of Google really getting set to do big things like opening up retail stores and selling only they're devices like Apple does. Which if I have my way will be computers, tablets, and of course phones all branded by Google, and sold by Google...That would mark the beginning of what I feel will be Google's domination.

If you combine pure Android, along with today's best technology and Motorola's awesome build quality, rock solid internal radios, superb phone call quality and unbelievable battery life like the maxx line and brand it the Google phone, you will have something that will undoubtedly be huge and be going head to head with whatever Apple decides to put out next.

I personally believe it will still carry the Nexus tag.
1) I feel that Google really likes the Nexus Tag.
2) Just because the Nexus line has been traditionally made in a partnership with OEMs doesn't mean that when the OEMs are taken out of the picture doesn't mean that the Nexus tag needs to be removed.

I know this is all speculation but I disagree about the disappearance of the Nexus line.
I mean really the Nexus family just became complete(still may add another)and is finally gaining name recognition.
Name recognition is kinda important in this industry so for Google to finally establish Nexus brand as a major player(it's only been 5 years coming)and to throw it away seems beyond silly.

Despite the rumors I doubt Motorola will make ANY branded Google phone. And personally I care not even a little. Do some thinking here people. Here's a one word answer on why Motorola will never make a Google or a Nexus phone: Verizon.

What everyone is missing is that Google owns Motorola, and with that being said Google see's the Android platform on the same wavelengths as IOS. So why not use your own company to build a Super Phone and brand it the Google phone running your own OS...meaning the actual Google, like the iPhone is the Apple phone. If they do go with the Nexus brand that's fine also, I'm not opposed to that or against anything that's Nexus, I just think Google has bigger plans then just building a cheaply price off contract phone. If anything i'd rather them mirror the Apple way of late and partner with the carriers now and distribute the same phone on every carrier. Whether its the Google phone or the Nexus Phone, or whatever, it will indeed be a flagship device that is designed to make an impact in the mobile industry.

Now this can also swing the other way if Google does in fact come out with they're own wireless carrier which has be talked about for a while now, it was thought that maybe Google would buy Tmobile, but T-Mobile just announced they'd be carrying the iphone , so they're out. In any event, who knows what tricks Google has up they're sleeves. At the moment I'm really happy using my Nexus 4...

Its been well documented that Google is losing money on the nexus 4, do you really believe Google in in the business of losing money? Do you really think that Google wouldn't rather build its own hardware and package it with its own software...a la Motorola?

Come on seriously now? Its OK to have your own opinion but to take speculation into the realm of commenting on what someone else thinks and believe you really know what Google is going to do is a little OTT. I'm commenting on what I assume, not what I know...There's a BIG difference.

The fact of the matter is this...

Google does in fact own Motorola ...case closed! And I, and a slew of other Android users would really love a Motorola device built by Motorola running stock Android. If I'm a betting man I bet on this happening sooner then later, and I also wouldn't bank on it being $299-$349....but more along the lines of a high end device priced at $450-$500

Personally, I'm not convinced that this will be a nexus device. I think it could be a stock device, but not one that is built into AOSP like nexus devices are. Motorola is making the shift towards stock devices, as shown with the Razr M and Razr HD. If it does appear on Verizon, it will probably still come with a typical Motorola encrypted bootloader that will require the purchase of the Dev version for it to be unlocked, and thus stunted developer community.
