Setup tablet for kids

Hello, our kids have each received an Asus Transformer pad for Christmas. Now I need to set them up. I am debating the best way to do this. I have a google account but don't really want them using it and having access to my email. I also use the google calendar for all their activities so they need access to this on their tablets. However, I do want to be in control of purchases in the google play store. Should I set them each up their own google account or use mine. They are 8 & 9 so I don't expect them to be emailing anyone. If they buy items in the google play store, do I have to buy it twice if they are setup under their own accounts. Ay guidance or tips would be VERY much appreciated. Thanks.

If you use your own account, you can just choose not to sync the calendar or gmail. That way using your own account, if you buy one app, you can use it on all tablets. When you buy something from the app store, it prompts for your password, so just make sure your kids do not have it and are not able to guess it

You could create a shared gmail account for them and link it to both tabs? If you add your debit card details, there's an option to protect paid purchases with a PIN so you could still control what apps they install if you were the only one who knew the PIN. As far as I'm aware, you can tie the same gmail account to 5 (maybe more) devices and apps are tied to an account, not a device so that would also solve the buying apps twice thing too.

That way, if you sent the mail account calendar invites, they would appear on both tabs.

El Presidente's info is spot on. Definitely the route I would take. Keep in mind there are also app lockers available on the market too. If you decide to root the tablet in order to get better performance, you will want to make a recovery backup for sure. That is mandatory after rooting a device and installing a recovery such as TWRP or CWM.

For email privacy you could also set up the app locker app on the TF300 to password protect the Gmail app, for the play store you can PIN protect the play store to prevent unauthorized purchases.

Already recommended app lockers. Yours sounds better though. lol

Keep in mind there are also app lockers available on the market too.

I think if you worry about it then you should create a sub-account and installed when needed, then you log out.
