Help Terrible WiFi performance after JB update

Just got my JellyBean update (HTC_VODA102) but having issues with WiFi. WiFi connected perfectly and hardly ever dropped when the phone was running on ICS. Signal was constantly around 1-2 bars however with jellybean, connection usually drops after less a minute and doesn't reconnected unless you turn WiFi on and off. Best WiFi performance option is checked and power saver is off. Anyone else have this problem? I've also tried a reset but that didn't work

I got the update today and the wifi is now unusable because it reboots my router constantly in a loop. I will be calling HTC and Vodafone tomorrow.

Try a factory rest as a last resort, be aware that this will erase everything from your phone so back it up first to your pc.
ES file explorer is good for backing up your apps

You tried any of the usual fixes? Static IP, Changing the wireless channel etc?

I tried a factory reset with no joy. I spoke to HTC and they told me to clear some cache via the service menu, that didn't work either so my phone is going in for repair tomorrow.
If the update is causing the problem (which I'm pretty sure it is) then no doubt my phone will come back still not working if it's not, I'll be swapping it for a Samsung S3.

Changing to static IP did nothing. I'm sitting in the same room as the router and signal doesn't go above 2 bars.

Well I got my phone back from HTC today and it still doesn't work My GF has a One X and it is saying there is a JB update but I'm hesitant to install it as it may also have the same problem. Back onto HTC again then, if not were swapping phones!

are you sure it's not an issue with your router? does everything else show up fine? keep in mind that computers have much better wifi cards with bigger antennae.

The router is working perfectly without my phone connected, and up until the latest update the phone has worked perfectly with the the same router too. I have another One X in the house (partners) which I have not updated yet and that works perfectly with the router too!

My router is quite expensive and I am not changing that just because of a phone update, if they can't fix it I'll have no alternative to change to a different phone, which is a shame as I loved the One X

They said doing updates to the phone is at the discretion of the user so, it's my fault basically!

What router is it? Have you tried to see if that has updated firmware? I know that's helped folk in the past.

I have a Draytek Vigor 2850Vn running the latest firmware, this was the first thing I tried as I've heard it fixing some peoples problems in the past too, unfortunately not for me

I am going to update my Gfs One X later and see what happens, if the same happens to her's then I'll know for sure where the problem lies.

Actually, I just checked the Draytek site and they have released another new firmware yesterday! I'll give that a go first

It's ok, I appreciate your help. I just have a feeling that this isn't going to get fixed unless there is another software update, which is annoying as I'm going to have to look for alternatives that are going to cost me, unless I can convince Vodafone to swap both our phones for the One X+ or something for free (like that's going to happen lol).

Ok, I contacted my router manufacturer today as I thought HTC are not going to solve this unless they do another Android update, of which then I would have to wait for Vodafone..

Draytek replied and sent me a new firmware version to try, and touch wood, it seems to have fixed the problem, although this is using my GFs One X as mine went back to HTC this morning

My router is a BE supplied Thomson TG585 with latest firmware R8277. All other wifi devices fine. One X rarely connects - only after wifi on/off.

I have just had my phone returned after 2nd repair and the issue is still there. Htc state they cannot detect any problem. I will be phoning them again tomorrow. I had no issue before the jelly bean update

this seems to be widespread, nowt to do with the phone, or the router, simply that JB has messed it up, the sooner HTC put out a fix and admit it the better.. the more they pretend everyones phone has mysteriously broken the day they get their update the more chance they lose a possible repeat customer!

I had a similar problem that occurred immediately after the JB update. My phone would disconnect from my router, but I knew there was nothing wrong with the router itself or even the phone WiFi, because as it disconnected it would immediately connect to the BT Openzone WiFi on the same router and other devices were connecting fine to the normal router connection. I also had major battery problems. A factory reset on the phone has now fixed both issues.

Update a few days later - intermittent fix. Sometimes connects sometimes not. Wifi off/on still fixes it always. Bloody pain.
