Specs: HTC Incredible VS Samsung Galaxy S

Hey all.

Today I saw the spec list for the HTC Incredible. Of course, the specs for the Samsung Galaxy S was released (or partially) around the time of the announcement.

So, for those of us (ie: me) that aren't tech geeks (I say that with respect), can someone dumb things down a bit and give me a straight-up comparison between the two?

I am a Verizon user, so from what I have read, the HTC Incredible is going to be on my network with the Samsung Galaxy S still questionable. I have a POS BB Storm (v1) that I cannot wait to get rid of and join the Android crowd. Just got to figure out what is going to be the better option.

Thank you in advance.

Is the HTC Incredible the best spec-wise for phones that are currently announced to come out this year on the Verizon network?
Well, technically it's not announced yet but it might as well be ;). But out of Verizon's current lineup, yes the Incredible is easily the best.

As far as future phones, none have been officially announced. However, the Nexus One will be coming out soon for Verizon but the Incredible has better specs IMO. The Motorola Shadow and Droid 2 are supposedly coming out later this year and they will, almost certainly, have better specs than the Incredible. There will still be 8 months left in the year after the Incredible comes out. That's eons of time these days when it comes to phones. There will always be a better phone coming out in the next 4-6 months.

And that is why I registered. Straight answers. :)

So ... now that I know the Samsung Galaxy S is not going onto Verizon's network, and I refuse to switch to another carrier since the big "V" is still the best ...

Motorola Shadow is better spec-wise (though most people prefer the user interface on the incredible) and is rumored to be out for Verizon in June... which means probably late July :p But, there will always be a better phone 3 months out. If you're ready for a new phone the Incredible is the one to get. If you want to wait a few months for something with a slightly larger screen and HDMI output, you could wait for the Shadow.

If you're going to wait until the summer, you might wait for the new Iphone HD as well. The new Iphone OS 4 was previewed today and it looks pretty sweet. Iphone is supposed to finally be coming to Verizon.....

I have a Iphone 3GS now and will be switching to the Incredible when it comes out. I'm tired of Apples walled garden approach to what I can put on and do with the phone that cost me a lot of cash. The straw that broke the camels back was when they had the gull to sue HTC claiming the innovations they stole and patented were being stolen. A company that can no longer innovates steals and sues.

as far as OS 4 yeah its pretty sweet. It looks like Apple innovated all of the android features they could that would still let them keep control of what you can do with the phone. ;)

All of this is just my opinion though.

The Iphone OS 4 is everything I've been using on my android phones for the past year...

In ( ) is my opinion...
  • Multitasking. (LMAO, Finally! they finally joined EVERYONE ELSE! G1 was able too.. Droid, and Incredible will too! hahahahhaha)

  • Spell check (our keyboards can do that...to an extent.. they fix the misspelled words, so big deal?)
  • Bluetooth keyboard support (I dont think.. so +1 to them lol.. I wouldn't use it!)
  • User-defined wallpaper (HAHAHAHAHAH FINALLY!!!) WOW!!

  • Tap to focus when recording video, just like with photos, and a 5x digital zoom for the camera. (We have zoom with our cameras too....)
  • Playlist creation and nested playlists. (They do have better media.. So +2 lol)
  • App folders for sorting apps! You can even put an app folder in the dock. (LMAO, finally! We could do this on 1.0!!) G1 favorite! ;)
  • Enhanced Mail! You can have a merged inbox view, switch between inboxes quickly, and sync to more than one Exchange account. There's also threaded messaging (at last!) and in-app attachment viewing. (hmmm Motoblur much???)
  • iBooks, just like on iPad, only smaller. You can wirelessly sync books between platforms, a la Kindle. (yeah kindle 1.0...)
  • Enterprise features, including remote device management and wireless app distribution. (That could be cool)
  • Game Center. It's like Xbox Live, but for iPhone games. Includes achievements, leaderboards, and match making. It will be available as a "developer preview," and out for consumers later this year. (same with this...But who sits on their phone all day??)
So in conclusion! Big let down besides finally catching up to everyone else! They will just release a bunch of nice hardware to use average software.. Whatever. Android > Apple

Samsung Galaxy S seems to have some better specs than the Incredible

- Much faster graphics capabilities, even faster than iPhone 3GS
- Super AMOLED display. Supposed to be much better in sunlight.
- 720p video recording
- Front facing camera
- 4" screen

The thing I've heard that I don't like is that is has plastic over the screen instead of glass, making it very easy to scratch.

And BTW, its coming to AT&T something this spring or summer. Its just clear the FCC.

Isn't the Galaxy S supposed to cost $1000 unsubsidized? How much cheaper do you think it can get subsidized? $800? $750? That's still a lot more expensive than the Droid Incredible.
