April 9th's update!

So, there's was supposed to be scheduled an update for the Sprint HTC Hero on April 9th, and that day has come. Some websites assumed that it could be the 2.1 software, even though the leaked "documents" stated that it was supposed to be for something else. Has anyone gotten those updates yet?

The leaked version for your rooted phone of course... I tried rooting my phone by trying to follow the instructions that I was given for my Mac computer, but I had no luck and pretty much gave up on those confusing instructions... and most of the instructions seem to be based on Windows OS...

umm doesnt someone have to be at sprint to push out the updates? im pretty sure they dont like set a robot to push out updates as soon as midnight rolls around. so if anytihng, we should wait till tomorrow business hours.

the April 9th update was suppose to be a picture mail update. a thread either here or another site posted by another user with a leaked pic showed the hero receiving an update.

It's a rumor. It could be 2.1, it could be a MR or it could be nothing.

There was a copy of a Sprint memo floating around that indicated we might be getting a MR today, but did not indicate anything for certain. Everything is strictly rumors and wishful thinking.

The entertainment value of the soap opera surrounding the Sprint Hero is truly been enjoyable. It is going to be sad when it's over. I really like this this phone, and the community that surrounds it. Very fun.

Can you not read? That says Cellular South.. Cellular South does not = Sprint. The best part is Cellular South always lags behind the other providers in terms of updates so they won't be getting it neither on the 16th.

on the official Sprint forums the admins have been saying for a few days that the 9th was a mistake and that it is coming soon, just not on the 9th. not like they usually know more than anyone else though since Sprint doesn't like to tell its employees anything either.

Honestly this is annoying. I could really care less about the 2.1 update but damn can u fix my MMS.. I mean now its happeing with my text messages and voicemails. I cant believe a phone of this caliber has these simple issues. I dont know how much more I can wait for this fix, wiping my phone every 2 weeks is getting annoying also. Anybody have a BB they want to trade?

I send/receive all my pictures and etc, through gmail so I've never had the issues some are having currently. Why don't the people with the MMS issue just use email to send the items?

Yeah. I supposed because the phone is supposed to be able to do it thru text, and they want it to work that way. There are often work arounds for issues, that doesn't mean the manufacturer shouldn't fix the non-working issues. And, from what we hear, they are providing a fix.

I haven't had any issues that I am aware of with mms, but now that I have said that, just watch! Now I will!

Well, yeah I guess you can call my method a work around but logically.. I send items larger than what a "mms" msg can handle so I never even tried to do it via regular messaging.

Don't worry, I've said that I don't have that issue a few times on here and have yet to fall victim to the various issues.

The problem I have with MMS is that I just dont get them most of the time. And when I do it gives me the download option. Never downloads. I guess the email thing could work but thats kind of silly no? Now the scary part is everyone now uses SMS to contact me for business and they are not coming through and people think im ignoring the messages. Not good. And the voicemails not coming through? This is a big deal and HTC and or sprint really dropped the ball on this. Doesnt even matter to me anymore because I just bought a blackberry off ebay for the time being until HTC gets this figured out.
