Paranoid Android ICS
for the Triumph

This is totally built from source code so it is not a port. This is built for the Triumph.

Thanks to isaacj87, Tickerguy, Whyzor, mantera, g60madman, adamto, Chairshot215, dsmryder, b_randon14, yumbrad, and anybody else that was involved with Triumph developement. Thanks to the whole Cyanogen Mod team, and the Paranoid team.

Everything should be working, except the half functional camera, as we continue to get it working, but that's another story. I'll update with more info in time. There is just too much for one person to test, so let me know how it goes. Some of you may be familiar with Paranoid Android, if you are not, then look here and Paranoid Android - Home.

Some tips that should help out a few people:
1) There is an app called ParanoidAndroid, with a big green face as the icon, this is a back up tool for your custom setup. After you have your Paranoid Settings all set up, reboot for them to take effect, then use the app to back them up. When you reinstall or update, once it loads go to the ParanoidAndroid app and restore. It will then ask you to reboot, allow it and you will be back to how you had it in a few minutes.

2) I am pretty sure, that there is enough space now to install Google Now offline and the symlinked Gapps, I have been running it like that since the cam test build. To update wipe cache, install ROM, intall Now offline, then install symlinked Gapps, and then reboot. If you run in to any issues with apps like Play then just force close and wipe the apps data.

3)
If you change layouts and things start force closing go in to System Settings>Paranoid Settings>List of apps and find the app then change the Default DPI to Phone and hit apply.

4) Having the Statusbar at the bottom (Tablet ui), will cause issues with some apps not knowing that the bar is not on top, leaving an unused space at the top of the screen. This is not an issue with the Statusbar set to Phone ui in Paranoid Settings. This requires a reboot to take effect, but allows games to go fullscreen also. I don't use Netflix or any video services on my phone, so I am not sure if it also applies there.

5) I noticed an issue, and I know somebody posted somewhere in the thread, about games just crashing out of the blue. After looking at the logs it has to do with google services, and is remedied by booting to recovery and reflashing Gapps.

For those of you that have trouble seeing the smaller fonts,or just like the regular CM9 layout, I put together a zip to help you out. Just flash in recovery, either when installing or anytime after.
BSydz-PA-Stock-CM9-Mode-Changer.zip

INSTALLATION:
If you have never flashed a ROM before, follow these instructions.

If you are on a rooted ROM, it would make it easier to transition, if you backup all of the apks in data/app with a root explorer. Then you don't have to download them and you can just install them from any file manager.

For those that have CWM or TWRP Recovery already installed follow these steps

1. Backup
2. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
3. Flash Rom
4. (Optional) Flash Google Now
5. Flash Gapps or Symlinked Gapps for Google Now
6. Reboot

7. Enjoy

Sometimes text will jumble, this is a known CM bug that I some how reintroduced. Solutions are to kill the app and reopen it. You can set theback button to kill apps, which can make it easier to deal with.

wow! new rom ! It's been a while...
So the camera is the same as in CM9, right?
Thank you
Thanks. The camera will be around the same, I have done a lil tinkering and also didn't implement a lot of stuff that I wasn't sure was needed. I have to fix the preview orientation but preview shows but no pic, and panorama kinda works. I forgot to delete libcamera.so and rename libcamera2.so to libcamera.so, I'll do it tomorrow, need some sleep. But it is weird that it works with the regular libcamera.so after reboot. I'll have to look into that.

Smooth install, gorgeous interface and seems to run well so far. I went ahead and installed Google Now with it to test how it goes on this ROM.

Will report back in when I've used it for a day or two. Thanks for the great work as always!
Thank you for the feedback, let me know how it goes.

I just noticed that chrome installs and works. I installed it after installing just symlinked gapps, and it just fc'ed, but I just went and installed google now offline and symlinked gapps and it works. Can anybody else confirm this? I thought we had issues with chrome working on our phone.

Edit: I think it was a dpi issue, I just set to tblet everything and it fc'd, good thing for app specific settings in Paranoid Settings. just set the dpi to phone and the ui doesn't matter.

Chrome is working beautifully. =) I'm not wild about the desktop version, but LOVE the mobile one.

Want to also add that I'm in love with the tablet UI. I actually have a tablet running JB and seeing the same basic UI on the Triumph is lovely. Looks great and extremely functional way to use Android I think. I do so wish it had the multitask button though so we could quickly and easily close apps. Not sure which version that popped up in officially but on my tablet, I've got a JB AOKP ROM and it's just like a breath of fresh -keep RAM freed up- air.

Nice work BSydz! You need to setup a repo for your work! As for the libcamera.so the stock does work. The libcamers2.so is basically libcamera built from source so variables can be edited. It's the closest to camera sources we have the Triumph. While not perfect they do work partially. I tried some more tinkering today using TJ's sources for camerahal and got no where. Even though our msm_camera.h is basically the same. Anyways, again nice work!!

I noticed that mobile data keeps getting kicked back on for some reason. I basically leave it disabled at almost all times as I'm generally near wifi and it has kicked itself back on a couple of times.

One time it was on when I got off of a call. The other, I went to enable wifi and it was already on even though I have it disabled.

The only problem I've had with it at all thus far. I've not did any gaming on it as I use my tablet for all things gaming, but every app I've tried has worked perfectly. Calls function perfectly well, texting without problems, wifi has behaved and bluetooth as well.

Feels and operates like a real winner! Great job, really digging the tablet/phone hybrid thing it has going on. No lag either, I've had zero problems with anything hanging. I'm using smartassV2 and have my clock settings at 61/1024.

Battery life seems good too. I don't get quite the stellar results on anything CM9 as I do CM7 for the Triumph, but I talked on the phone for over an hour via bluetooth and updated apps using wifi during and I only lost 8%. That rounds out to a far better battery-life than stock by a long shot!

Also wanted to add that I was able to successfully change themes via the settings panel. I grabbed a random CM9 theme.

I have been able to use Snapchat to take pictures. I can take a pic, click the save button, then go to the Snapchat folder on the SD card and move the pic into the DCIM folder. Seems like after taking and saving the pic I had to go and clear data on the camera app to get it working again. Kind of a pain, but it works for the occasional photo for now.

EDIT: Never mind. Snapchat was working great on MTDEV CM9 but is not working for me on this ROM.

Thanks for the feedback everybody, I'll see what I can do about the headphones, remember this is a first release. So, I need feedback to fix any issues that may be present. The camera is gonna take a while, there are a few people working on it. I would not suggest installing if you need camera functionality. But it does seem to run pretty smooth. I don't use snapchat but I noticed it will actually let the picture taking process happen if you set to less than 5mp, it just won't save the pic. I am looking at the logcats, and seems to be a problem with the jpeg encoder.

Look at the very bottom of the developer options in settings for kill app back button.

Edit: Or you can just hold home and when the multitasking window pops up you can just swipe the ones you don't want open away. It doesn't kill the app but it is similar to quitting an app.

Thanks, I always put out my source but this is a little different as repo sync doesn't work for most of the source, Paranoid Android went open source but not for ICS just ports, and I had to edit a bunch of stuff, I had to frankenstein this thing together. It took me about 2 days just to get all the source. Once I get it a lil more polished I'll see about pushing to my github. I still have a bunch of work to do but figured it was ready to be released for testing, as most everything has been worked out.

can you take pics with the camera and record videos?

I'm sure that the camera is not fully functional at the moment. As far as i know, the camera only partially works... Previews and partially panorama. As soon as this is fully working, i will update my fiance's phone to this ROM. ICS plus front camera for video chatting will be so nice. I know she will be wanting some pink cm9 themes... Lol

The camera is not fully functional but you can take pics in panorama just hit the button twice to stop it and it will save, you don't have to move the camera from side to side, just hit the button once to start capture then hit it again to stop and it will save. Video is not working. Hope this helps.
