Hi, I am using Galaxy note ll for last 2 months. I have noticed that audio music irrespective of bitrate and file size start to skip once screen is off. It again returns to normal once screen is on!! I had read about similar problems in other android phones, however, couldn't find the fix for it. I am running factory default Jelly Bean. please help. Thanks in advance.

I have no problem with music, I once had a problem with music just playing for the first several seconds, then it ships to the next song. But it was an issue whether the screen was on our off. It turned out I had accidentally set it on preview mode.

I have an issue with one audio book that I bought (The Hobbit). It stops when the app is not shown. So if the screen is off, it stops, if there's another app showing, it stops, if the home screen is showing it stops. I already have contacted the developer, hope to get it sorted.

This just started happening to me as well. It doesn't matter which music app I'm using - Poweramp, Pandora, Songza - it happens with all of them.

The skipping isn't consistent, and I can go a whole day without it happening. But when it happens, it does happen A LOT! It's annoying!!

I have listened to Spotify every week and audio books everyday and have yet to get the skipping. Maybe you have some kind of battery saving app running? Are you listening on bluetooth? Maybe it is your bluetooth device skipping?

It's not bluetooth because it happens even when listening through my headphones.

I don't have a battery saving app. I suspect that it may be an app causing an issue, but I have no clue what app it could be without doing a hard reset. And I don't want to do that because it's a pain to back up everything.

I know one thing though...it's gotten worse over time.

Update 3: Sprint rep screwed up and promised me a replacement he shouldn't have (since I bought from the store, I should have returned it to a store). Anyway, I posted on Sprint's Community site and a rep there said he experienced the same thing and he would check with product development.

Anyway, I'm waiting to hear from him.

I emailed Samsung Customer Support about this issue, and as I expected they advised me to do a factory reset. Reluctantly, I did it. Made no difference. Now I've lost all my favourites, settings, passwords, etc. It'll take me days to get the phome reconfigured back to where it was. I've been back in touch with Samsung so we'll see what they say next.

If anyone else is still experiencing this issue, please take a moment or two to contact Samsung Customer Support directly. Maybe if more people started bringing this to their attention they might realise that its a general issue and not just something caused by individuals.

The problem is caused by the CPU. When the screen is off, it drops the CPU speed and causes the music to skip. If you root and mess with the CPU settings, you can fix it yourself. I don't want to root, so that's not an option for me right now.

I will email Samsung customer support as well.

OK. I accept that that sounds like a viable reason for the problem, but why did it only just start happening suddenly 3 or 4 days ago? I've had the phone since November - listening to music on a daily basis - and have never had this problem before Tuesday.
