In Handcent, longpress the offending texters # or name. a menu will pop up allowing you to blacklist that sender.

I hope that stops them. Also, I can't figure out how to set my vvm back up, after wiping and flashing fresh. My vm is just the same old vmailbox I had on my old phone... I've been playing with the settings and the menus within the vm app, but I can't find how to set vvm back to the way it was. Any ideas?

This doesn't answer his question. If the texts are generated from a random/unknown number, long pressing and blacklisting does nothing except block that one number. That does no good when the next text comes from a different number.

Yes, this is ture...my personal experience in 6 or 7 months with the Hero is that I received texts from one or two such random/unknown numbers, and blacklisted them both. I have not received any more. But you are correct, this doesn't stop all unknown/unwanted texts. I'm not sue that is doable, or that you would even want to. You might miss a contact from an old friend!

BLacklist to ignore pple? or to hide text from spouse? i would like Handcent to be more like ChompSMS let you put a Pattern or put a password....:D dont like pple snooping in my texts

Blacklisting, I guess, ignores people. It stops their texts from arriving at your phone.

I've been married a long time and have nothing to hide from my spouse, nor does she feel the need to look at my texts. :):D
