Jelly bean opperating system (jb) is horrible. Ice cream sandwich os (ics) wich we had previously had funtions I found more accomodating to my use of my device and that "upgrading" from ics to jb is actually a downgrade this is not based on anything else but oppinions i have, let me explain:

Iv'e had my tab since june and things from there started to downgrade.
First was youtube. It looked better back when we had like a 3-d wall and that was so much cooler than my ipod i had at the time wich i recently soled becuse i had no use for it any more the tab has a 16 (gb) card in it so that was 2 x my ipod, so ipod sat around since june when i got my tab. Well apple i guess dump youtube and after we had a update for youtube it lost its 3-d effect. Then related videos lumbed on comments made youtube constricting, i dont know about you but I enjoy reading those.

Second is the internet. The stock browser is jumping all over as i type and when i try to scroll down it enlarges, this is so irritating i cant even surf reddit or this fine forum , I might totally switch to chrome becuse of the amount of pages you can have open compared the stock 8

The third thing is the missing screen shot button, I thought it was dumb , until i started using to compare products off of amazon or checking/comparing stats on video games so it became really handy for me. I may have thought the function was "dumb" becuase i never had the privlidge to do it from ios besides the hold lock button and home button trick like the volume plus lock hold for android.

Lastly is button placement for the task manage and the notifications bar on top in the left corner. Buttons are further apart and spred out it is a burdensome pain on my hands .everything was more convenient where it was

So thats what iv'e noticed so far as i did the update yesterday and played xbox all day so I didn't take time to check stuff out .Beside the negitive is there at at any positive advancement ? I would like to love it but I'm not seeing it.

Badluckbro, you are correct, JB (at least the version Samsung cooked for our tablets) leaves much to be desired.

For Youtube, you could go to Settings, Applications, and uninstall the so called Updates. This will revert the app to how it was before.

The stock browser is also terrible. I strongly suggest you download another one. Personally I prefer Boat Browser, as it works really well on this forum (using it right now to type this).

You also might want to Root your device, to gain full control over the notifications window. For some odd reason, Samsung decided to treat our tables as phones, and they don't provide a way to use Tablet mode. Rooting and installing a custom ROM will allow this.

See the All Things Root section for more details on Rooting your device.

Good luck.

If the tablet came with it, you would never know.

You are right. But if it had come with JB I would not have used it as much as now with ICS. I would have looked at it as a toy with a clumsy, awkward to use interface - and I would have only used it for activities that don't need lots of manipulation, like watching videos.

As it turns out, I liked the ICS tablet interface and I started using this tablet almost more than my PC. And when JB was forced on me, I tried it for 2 weeks and then went back to ICS. And I'm glad I did. :)

I had the G. TAB 2 7.0 for a few weeks b4 the update came out, well i just got used to the style and all of a sudden it was like i got a new g.tab 3 7.0. Though I adjusted with ease, the only problem I have now is the browser, I want to get a alternate browser but permissions some of them want are rediculous. Its almost as if they want complete access to the tab, Im new to apps so a little paranoid I am or just missinformed on the permissions capabilities. I found screen shots can be takin by pressing power and volume down. Any more quick tricks I can try ?

I use Chrome as my main browser. I wouldn't worry about it's permissions...Google has pretty much complete access to everything on Android anyway. ;)

i agree it's been an adjustment since the upgrade, relocating some of the shortcuts not having a screenshot button anymore. I use a screenshot all the time so now it'll be a little inconvenient to use the power button and volume button instead of just 1 button. it's funny how some times an update is an update improvement and sometimes it's not.

Why don't you just root the device? Then you can have Jelly Bean in Tablet mode. It's really not complicated and it takes ten minutes or so...

If you just want to go back to ICS you don't have to root. There are threads in this forum on how to do that.
Or you could of course follow vosg's advice, root and stay on JB - with a tablet UI.

Just curious? Have you found a good 7" tablet UI on JB? When I was looking into this I couldn't find any so I went back to ICS.

To be honest, i dont understand what rooting is or the benefit, what it does

To put it simply, it means that you give yourself read/write/execute permissions for the entire file system on your device, which you do not have on the typical Android device out of the box.

It enables you to overwrite the operating system, or parts thereof.
