Root Return to Stock ZVD Super Easy

Return to stock ZVD, the easy way.

Thanks to LDrifta for the stock zvd zip.
All I did was make easy, step by step instructions.

I tried this myself on my personal phone and made this guide along the way. I can confirm that this works 100% .

I am not responsible for your device..... or health. LOL
*Must be on a ZVD based rom to use this guide*

Guide:
1. Download stock zvd zip to your computer (link at bottom)
2. Unzip the file and you will get a folder named: zvd_stock (drag it to your desktop, do not rename it)
3. Plug your phone to computer and switch it to mass storage and allow few seconds to mount
4. In windows go to start menu and open my computer - next open removable disk - next open clockworkmod - next open backup (leave this folder open)
5. Now drag the zvd_stock folder that we placed on your desktop to the folder we left open (wait till it's finished copying over)
6. Now unplug phone from computer and plug it to power outlet instead and boot phone into recovery and make a backup just in case
7. Then wipe data - next wipe cache - next wipe dalvik cache
8. Now go to backup and restore - next go to restore - now click on zvd_stock and flash this
9. Once process is finished, reboot
10. The first time you boot you may have trouble with data, you may notice your 4G and signal bars are greyed (don't panic) just put your phone in airplane mode and and wait 10 seconds then take back off airplane mode and that should work. (worked for me)
11. You should now be on a completely stock phone only with root. If you wish to also un-root, see next post below.

Guys I

Steps to Un-root and remove CWM recovery, or just un-root:
(only remove CWM Recovery if you're on stock rom)
*see post above for returning to stock ZVD*

1. Go to this link and download the LG-Esteem-Revo_AIO.zip
http://androidforums.com/esteem-all...zr-root-recovery-aio-updated-2-19-2012-a.html

2. Make sure that USB Debugging is enabled and Internet Connection is enabled on your phone. Also make sure all USB drivers are installed on your pc.
For usb drivers go here: LG LGMS910 Support: Find Manuals & Warranty Info | LG USA

3. Connect phone to pc then pull down notification bar and make sure it's on internet connection.

4. Run the .bat file in windows and choose option 5 to install stock recovery this removes cwm recovery. When finished close the program but leave phone connected to pc. (if you're just un-rooting, skip this step)

5. Run the .bat file again this time choosing option 4 for unrooting when done you should be free of cwm recovery and unrooted.

6. After removing clockworkmod successfully, go to settings/privacy and do a factory data reset. (if you only un-rooted, skip this step)

7. You can use this app to check if you are unrooted or rooted. Root Checker

I tried this method and it worked for me. I was also able to re-root and install cwm recovery again. I have not tried this with the touch version of CWM recovery.

Good Luck :thumb:

I've noticed that from time to time people want to restore their phone to stock zvd but some can't get any of the methods in the forum to work so I made this very detailed guide to do so. This is the easiest way by far.

Thanks to LDrifta for posting the stock zvd zip and some instructions.

ive been trying for days to get to stock,my esteem is in need of a return, very quick,so far ive followed the steps by the t and it does easily work.thank you all again, now have a question ,is there anything i should do before i unroot, and head into to my so called corporate store and argue like the employees own the phones lol j/k ;)
Once you have successfully un-rooted open your app drawer and make sure super user is gone. Then install root checker (link below) and run it to make sure you are completely un-rooted. You may also want to delete clockworkmod folder from your external sd-card (optional). Once all this is done and you are absolutely sure, you can walk into Metro like you own the place (joke). LOL

Root Checker

Hope this helps

MD5 mismatch is all I get in CWM with 2 recoveries I've tried, any suggestions?
I googled your problem and it seems to be that when you restore good backups and you get md5 mismatch, it could be because of a bad external sd card.

Try putting the backup in the internal sd card and restore it from there in CWM to see if it works. If it does then you know you have a bad external sd card. Also download the zvd backup again just in case it was a bad download.

Hope this helps.

how do you uncheck MD5 ?
I've never had md5 error, so I don't know.
If you are getting md5 error, try placing the backup in your internal sd instead of the external sd, and restore from there.

Make sure to not rename the backup and that there are no spaces in the name.
Just to be sure it wasn't a bad download... download the the backup again from a pc.

ok so I got the rom stock, but now i'm having driver issues or something USB. I have the drivers installed from LG. when I connect my phone to laptop (windows7) windows does the whole USB search and install drivers. I cancelled that. and the phones drop down menu says "can not switch USB mode with factory cable" it's charging, but no go.
I uninstalled the drivers tried another older driver from Lg's update tool, same problem.
I'm using the same laptop I rooted with. same cable. I tried another cable, same thing.
I need to return my phone to stock with no root. you know warranty return.
can anyone help me?
it started yesterday when I randomly lost CDMA calls and texts. my 4G data works fine.

is there a way I can just brick it and have warranty cover it, or how can I get the usb working?
right now i'm stock rom with root from this guide.

I don't have the Esteem any more but I'll try to help best I can remember.

---Go to settings and enable usb debugging
---Also in settings select internet connection as default
---Now in windows 7 disable anti-virus and UAC
video tutorial to disable UAC
---After the above steps... Begin the process from the second post from the beginning.
---This time don't cancel windows 7 driver search as you mentioned.

Other than this I can't think of anything else why you would be having these issues.

Hope this helps.

ok so I should of done some more digging around first... I was stuck in the whole "test mode" got it out of test mode. I'm considering leaving the prl and MIN broken and unrooting, so I can turn in for warranty. I wouldn't mind a new unit.

Ahh... test mode can stick it to you sometimes.

As long as they don't find clockworkmod recovery and root on your device, you'll be fine... Otherwise they'll flag your account in their system so that you can't get warranty in any Metro store.
