Right Here
On the 23rd of this month, 'leave her' standing right there in the Verizon Store that is, looking for a ride home. She'll be eligible for an upgrade. I told her to either get an Eris, a Droid, or wait for the Incredible. But she keeps insisting on getting a Blackberry!!??!!?!

I just don't get it. Am I wrong in thinking that you still gotta pay for a data package? And don't even get any apps? I just don't get it. I've run out of reasons for trying to convince her that because she saw someone use a Blackberry before, that don't mean it's the best invention ever.

Its her phone, let her get whatever she wants. I mean my wife doesn't even really care for her droid eris, i love mine. She just wants something that makes phone calls and gives her easy access to voicemail and texting, if it weren't for the buy one get one free offer i probably would have gotten her something else but i figured since she wanted an iphone a year or so ago that the droid eris would be something she'd like. She'll probably get used to it and grow to love it but for now shes not overly enthused.

You know, unfortunately, women have rights now, so she's within reason to choose w hat she wants. Let her get whatever and if she's unhappy with it, she'll return it and hopefully listen to you. Otherwise, she's the one suffering with an outdated OS, not you.

She can, however, still get apps. Not sure what it's called, BB Market, I dunno. But she can get apps. Not an awesome selection, but she can get apps.

Ok, so maybe I was a little mis-informed. I was at one of the Verizon stores outside the store here. The guy told me they didn't have any apps. I'll give him credit, he really was bent on selling me a Droid, till I told him I have the same Eris he was talking on when I got there.

Mine seems to think if she got a blackberry, she can do as much as me. Who knows, maybe if she gets what she wants, it'll have 4 wheels on the back and she can skateboard home.

But really, I'm checking back into the 'apps' thing right now.

I used to have a pearl. No "market" style thing like we've got, but there were PLENTY of websites with paid and free apps, and could download from mobile browser as wap. Mostly Java, but there were some decent games, and utilities.

Most of the good stuff was ridonkeylously expensive though.

And the battery life... Smartphone + 4 days off charger with moderate use... I miss those days...

It may be her choice, but we get to her the constant complaining when she realizes BB sucks. I got my wife a Storm just before I got my Eris (I was thinking of getting the Storm). She hates the storm, we are now on our 4th one in 6 months. And a little FYI...effective 1/2010 VZW now has a policy of not allowing you to exchange an defective phone with a different phone, they just send a refurbished phone of the same. So now I have to keep listening to her how she hates her phone and my phone is so much better, which is true.

So whatever you do, make sure she really tries it out during the first 30 days

you allow her to have a phone? :p

lmmfao!

I came from a BB curve and I loved it. In fact, there were some apps I had on it that I wish I could get for the Eris. :( Depending on what your wife wants from her smartphone the BB may better suit her needs. Email on the BB can't be beat!!
The email part makes sense. Even for like Yahoo email? Cuz that's what she does a lot of her business through.

My wife is the opposite. She has a BB Tour and is always playing with my phone. ( yes I let her have a phone, you cavemen) I think there are pluses to having a keyboard but it's preference. I'm glad not everyone likes my phone and when someone else has it I find myself looking at the release date for the Incredible.

I like being on the minority side.

BB has an app store. You can install 3rd party apps and messaging blows everything else away. I love this phone but BB is also great if you prefer function over form and can live with a crappy browser. They are also good as phones. My wiFe still is thinking about going back to her storm and I really can't think of a good reason to tell her not too except for the recipe app on the Eris to keep her ass in the kitchen :p

Yes we have rights now and are even allowed to vote. ugh men

Blackberries aren't that bad. It all really depends on what you use your phone for. There is a market and tons of apps available. The OS is a little dated and the browser sucks, but for email and messaging they really are hard to beat. The battery life is far better too.

Just get her to play around with the phone in the store and see what she likes. If she is anything like my girl you will never hear the end of it if you push her into something and she gates it. On the plus side the amazing, "I should have listened to you" stuff is great.
