Ok, everyone who wants the bootloader unlocked needs to call this number! 18003494478 I just got off the phone with them and they said they are checking with the corporate office. It might be a possibility to see this happen, but EVERYONE needs to call and request a bootloader unlock and explain that we don't care about the warranty. Please guys, this may be our only hope!

Thank you for contacting Kyocera Communications Inc. This email message is in response to your inquiry regarding the bootloader for the Kyocera Hydro.

We are sorry to hear about the difficulties you are experiencing and appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

Unlike Samsung, HTC and other phone manufacturers that has allowed you to access the bootloader of the phone, Kyocera doesn't make phones independently and then sell it to the market or end users. We make the phone's upon the specifications of the service provider as they are our direct customers. Giving the bootloader to end users will mean that they can have the phone reflashed to another carrier other than the one's that we have sold the phone to or make modifications the way they want it to, aside from having the phone's warranty voided we will also be charged of breach of contract. The only people who have access to the bootloader of the phone are the authorized distributors.

If you have any further questions, or are interested in purchasing, or information on accessories for your Kyocera Communications Inc. phone, please contact us at any of the phone numbers listed below:

-E-Mail: phone-help@kyocera.com -Phone: (800) 349-4478 (Toll-free USA and Canada only) -Kyocera Accessories: KyoceraWeb@scp4me.com -International Access: (858) 882-1401 (Outside the USA) -Fax: (858) 882-1717

Thank you for contacting Kyocera Communications Inc.

What a load of garbage that is. Yeah, I'm going to reflash my phone with software that doesn't exist in the wild. Maybe I'll flash it to AT&T or T-Mobile, right Kyocera guy?

I don't think they're going to relent.

Has anyone tried using "autostarts" from the play store? Cwhatever from the prevail forum said you could remove the 4.0.4 update with this app. I would, but I don't want to drive to Walmart and get a Google play store prepaid card..

Autorun manager is a free alternative

Awesome, I just got this one a few days ago and would love to see what it could do with CM on it! So are you gonna join in on getting the recovery on it?

I'm not sure how I can help if the issue is a locked bootloader... exploits really aren't me specialty... (I'm still learning myself...) but I will definitely help however I can :)

Ugh, that stinks! I can't wait for next week! Hey LV, if they release the Kyocera development program, would you be able to help get cwm on the phone?

I have yet to build cwm myself, but seeing as the hydro is only $60... I may be able to pick up an 'extra' one that I wouldn't cry over if ended up bricking it... it would definitely be a great learning experience... but to be perfectly honest, I'm actually considering getting a rush.

Again, keep in mind, I'm still learning... I have a pretty good handle on the basics, but I still have a long way to go.

My roommate just got a system update notification... hmmm... I'm not going to be home until the 7th, but I'm going to help her root it over the phone tonight, so i may be able to pull the update from the cache, but if shabby is right, (and 99.999% of the time he is) then its only going to be patch files, so it may be of little use to us... but who knows...

I would like to note that less than 24 hours after you contacted them, there is an update... I wouldn't be surprised if it was to block root... :(

Actually, that means they helped! I asked them if they could try an update so we can see how the bootloader reads. This brings high hopes guys! I will see if they can send me an email of our conversation but it would be Monday before they reply.

If it's patch files that are signed then we know that and can study it. If it's unsigned then we can see how to introduce our own and get custom goodies that way.
