Sorry to have to post something that may be repetitive guys, ive been a member of the forums here for awhile now so i know how it is. but okay ive done some reading on the existing tethering thread and from what ive gathered is that the sprint optimus s doesnt allow tethering through its stock settings meaning i cant just open up the settings>wifi&networks> and toggle the hospot on cause its block by sprint. is that right? my friend has this phone but she doesnt know anything about any of the sort of thing we do here so she definitely would not want to flash a rom or anything like that so thats out of the question. I repeat NO ROM SUGGESTION OR ROOTING, she loves her phone too much to risk borking it up lol but anyways i did read that if one downloads the Quick Settings app from the playstore and opens it to toggle the hotspot through there it will bypass the lock that sprint places on the phone and enable wifi hotspot. is that right?

soo the apps that ive gathered that work for this phone to tether are:
Quick Settings- to bypass the lock placed, read that it works
FoxFi- heard is works great but how well? the free version for well?, i dont know if my friend would actually buy the paid version so idk.
Hotspot Widget: just like the quick settings, bypasses the lock

For usb tethering:
Klink: both the free and paid but again idk if she is willing to buy the paid

Are there any other apps i may have forgtten that work for this phone and are most likely free apps? I REPEAT NO ROMS OR ROOTING she doenst want to risk screwing up her phone cause im pretty sure its her first smartphone, had it for a while now, and came from a cheap blackberry type phone

Thanks in advance

Since when is there a paid version of foxfi?
Foxfi works great, if you want to try it:
go to FoxFi Installer on your computer
click the download link - Then email it to yourself and check your email on your phone.
Go into Settings -> applications -> check Unknown sources.
Then install it, and your good to go.

Btw you have to do it this way because sprint removed it from the market.

I use EasyTether from Mobile STream. I have only tested it on my Optimus S with my desktop and my laptop. It works very well, although I've never used it beyond testing it. It was actually quite fast. I got the Pro version because it handles SHTML with your browser. I assume it's still on PlayStore since it is listed on MY APPS on Play Store. This is strickly a USB tether. Without rooting, I believe this is all that's available for the S if all your updates are installed.

If I'm not mistaken Pda net should also work.

PDA is free for awhile, but after awhile the windows app keeps saying https not avaible in free veriosn. Or something similar.

What i do then is de indtall pda from my phone ,(. And at this time you will still have the app on ur computer. ) Plug ur phone back into. Computer and just reinstall. I know it seems like a pain but it works.
