i was looking into it when i saw his other post, got some info from him and rolled with it. any other apps you need modded i can get that for you too

nah. i had most of the info already but you kinda cleared up a few things for me.
its all about trial and error. took me a few hours this morning to find out how the apk needed to be packaged up and how to reinstall as a .apk rather than a zip but once i got it its pretty simple. did take me a really long time to figure out how to remove the background from a png file. its easy on a PC....or a mac on 10.5+ but me running old school 10.4.11 i had to do it the manual way, cropping it out pixel by pixel.

are you running PC or MAC?
before going in to edit files, you gotta make sure you can re sign them after, which requires one of two download depending whether PC or MAC

unzip and place on desktop. after rezipping the files, drag and drop onto the icon and it will resign the package making it ready for install

i am a very uncreative person, so even this is a stretch. but i would like to continue doing this...just need ideas.

If you want to just do something to do it, make a nice looking color scheme for Swype. Change the way the keys look and change the color to gray like the Android keyboard. That would be cool. I would do it, but I'm bored with it at the moment.

i dont use swype, so i dont have the apk. is it available on the market? if not can you send it to me?
