Early upgrade question

Well I tried asking a sprint rep this question an he said he didnt know how much it would cost me... So I wondering if anyone here could help me So today I found out if I pay $175 dollars I will be able to early upgrade but I am wondering after I pay that will I have to pay $299 dollars to get the note 2?

Most likely. $175 to early upgrade? That's VERY close to the early termination fee. When does your contract actually end?

If Sprint pisses you off, pay the ETF, then go get the Note 2 with another carrier. Your cost difference will be minimal.

I'm guessing yes, you'll still have to pay the $299,as the early upgrade fee is just that:You're paying the $175 fee solely for the opportunity to purchase the phone at the subsidized price & that fee does not apply to the purchase price.

IMHO, you'd be better off w/one of the following :

1) Wait for a price drop.

2) Shop on some respectable sites such as ANDROID FORUMS CLASSIFIEDS,COWBOOM, etc... for a used one @ a fair price.

3) Wait for the NOTE3 to be released, which may coincidentally be available by the time you're upgrade eligible w/o paying an early upgrade fee.

Dang, that's LARGE. I like the "unbreakable, flexible" screen reference, but IMHO, that's WAY TOO large to call it a phone. It's basically a tablet at this point.

These are some CRAZY-GOOD specs,just hoping the overall width of the phone is no more than the NOTE2'S.

Yeah I would wait it out if you can and see when Samsung announces their new devices. I doubt it will be during MWC in late February. They'll probably do their own press event in March or April.

But as far as what the new S4 or Note 3 will look like or have under the hood, it's really pure speculation because nobody has a clue. But I think it's safe to say one or both devices will probably have the new Exynos processor.

i think i will wait till Note4.. when the screen hits 7inches. $300 for a great spec tablet with phone functions. paired with a bluetooth pen stylus.

Man, who would have ever thought phones would jump to $300 subsidized. The Note2 is a solid device and I really want to get one for my wife, but man that price is crazy esp when you are still under contract.

A new unlocked GSM Note 2 off the shelf at the local Fry's, is about $900.00 off contract. On Sprint they're $650.00 off contract.

So $300.00 isn't that bad. Around Xmas Sprint was selling the Note 2 for under $150.00.

Sprint is offering an early buyback upgrade to customers. I wanted to know if anyone else has gone through the process. Do they take your old phone away from you at the store.

Just took a look @ this myself.From what I gather,this is part of the buy-back program (to encourage recycling of electronics,going green,etc..).

Using my phone as an example,I pay SPRINT $175 to participate,then,turn around & sell them my phone (SGS III 16GB) which they currently offer $109.

So,I'm basically paying $66 + my phone to upgrade(early,@ the subsidized contract price).In a pure $ standpoint,perhaps not a good deal,but,if you were to sell the same phone & apply that $ to an unsubsidized price,I'd say it's a fair deal,not great,but,you have to keep in mind there is a bit of quid pro quo between SPRINT & the individual for early upgrading.

So,if you can sell your phone on the open market for more than what SPRINT will offer,& wait for your upgrade,you'll save some $.

Yes, the current active phone one the account has to get traded in.

just an FYI to those out there considering this offer...it is targeted, and not permanent.

You could go in tomorrow and it show as an offer and go back next week and it no longer be there, or you may not have the offer at all.
