I have a chance to go from a Razr Maxx to a Razr Maxx HD. I have been using the Razr Maxx since it came out and the battery and call quality are awesome. I use it for email and web and it has no issue keeping up with that. The camera is the thing that sucks as it is really slow.

Anyways I can move to a Razr Maxx HD and after looking at how fast the camera was and the clarity of the screen I'm considering it.

Any thoughts. What else would be an upgrade?

As one who had the Maxx for nine months and paid full price for the Maxx HD, I don't regret it one bit. It's a little better with everything in my opinion. If it matters, I activated it myself and did not sign into Google until after it downloaded the Jelly Bean update. I then did a factory reset and then I finished setting it up. It is the best Droid I've had yet. The only other thing is that my wife doesn't know quite how expensive the Christmas gift was that she gave me. :D

Haha nice one. Since you've had the original Maxx how do you like the camera on the Maxx HD? Photography is one of my hobbies however I don't always have one of my real cameras with me. It would be nice to be able to take quick pics without them being grainy like my first gen maxx does.

My wife told me to just get an iphone as hers does really do a good job with photos. I'm not going down the apple road though.

I think the still pics are a little better. With a decent amount of light I think they're pretty good. I think the video is better too. But the subject of the camera varies a lot as everyone has a different opinion. I rank the camera on a smartphone as a lower priority, as I consider the radio and data connection and overall build quality to be the most important for me. This is just my opinion, but I would never base the purchase of a phone on the camera, but again, that's me. I have a nice 10MP camera if I plan on taking pics. I'm on the internet so much with my phone that's what matters to me, along with call stability and quality. And I say this in a friendly way- I've yet to see a phone that does everything perfect if you know what I mean.

I moved from the Razr Maxx to the Razr Maxx HD and skid (step kid) was over yesterday to watch the game...I handed down the Razr Maxx to him. Couldn't believe the difference going back to his screen. It never bothered me when I had it and I didn't notice a drastic difference when I moved to the HD, but going back I noticed it!

I would agree with Sandroid and hold out. The rumored Motorola X is sounding mighty fine and if they get the same camera sensor that is currently in the iPhone we might FINALLY have a true competitor. When it comes to phones with cameras, hands down I think Apple has that market cornered. I had the iPhone 4S for several months and really miss its picture taking capability. I have mixed results with the Razr Maxx HD.

I ended up with Maxx HD to replace my regular Maxx that had radio issues. I pay for monthly device coverage and the verizon tech offered up the Maxx HD as a substitute replacement saving me from burning my upgrade. I have to say this phone is very refined and better than the original Maxx. Battery life is kick ass too. I took it off the charger at 7 am Saturday morning and the battery is still at 55% Monday at 4pm.

No way I would trade that for an iphone.

Neither would I. I've never had a Maxx but Maxx HD is by far the best phone I've ever had. The camera is very good. It is not as good as an iPhone camera but if that is your primary consideration, go with the iPhone.

However, before you do, consist the amazing build quality, great radios (sounds like a landline) and the AMAZING battery life.
