Root backups won't restore??

75% of the time, the backups that I make of my ROMS won't restore. I boot into recovery, wipe everything, then restore. When I reboot system, it stays stuck on the splash image until I remove the battery. I need to repeat the process until it decides to let me restore one of the backups. It's totally random. One time, the backup won't restore and the next, the same exact backup restores just fine. Any ideas? I'm using TWRP recovery if that matters

I haven't used TWRP ever actually, although I know the touch is nice. Rukin is working on porting CM10.1 to our device, and I don't believe that recovery has been updated in a while. I honestly have no clue about what bugs lay in that recovery. My advice would be to ask him for help. You can always switch to CWM later. CWM for the Triumph is much more up to date, by the way. To bad you can't just transfer your backups.

I installed version 6.0.1.9 and have had no problems so far. I'm able to rename my backups and restore. Strange thing is that sometimes it boots to recovery fine but sometimes the screen is so bright I can barely make anything out. I'm also still unable to install certain ROMs for some reason. I have downloaded the Thunder Rom several times and it just boot loops??

I was setting the Triumph up for my son. It is running Sharp rom ver 8 and CWM (not sure of the version). So in order to transfer it to him I had to go back to stock to enter the NAM programming then re-install the Sharp rom. I did a back up in CWM before I did any of that. I cleared all the caches and restored with out re-installing the Sharp rom. When I did the restore it was stuck on the red Motorola M. So here's when it gets weird. I pulled the battery and booted into recovery and re-installed the Sharp rom with out clearing the caches. Then rebooted it and everything booted up fine. All the stuff that was there before the backup was there now and working. The really weird part was that it had Google Maps on there twice. But everything is working fine.
