When you get to the download screen, what stops? The download mode shouldn't do anything. The only thing that should happen is that the 'next' arrow on your PC suddenly becomes clickable. Does that happen?

yes i click that and then nothing i have waited for 30 mins and get nothing at the bottom i either get [debug]run then it changes to [debug]setupconnection or i get initilized and it just stays there in the progress bar it just says ready.
Ok ok, so the "Next" arrow DOES show up on your PC? You click it, then what? Take me through this step-by-step. B/c IF that arrow appears in the SWUUgrader then it is working.

ok like i said i get all the way to where it says start download i click that then in the progress bar it says ready and just stays there nothing happens.i have left it there for 30 min and does nothing.i don't think it should take that long to do the update...i really don't want to go to a sprint store to get my gf's phone updated to cl14.

So....
1. you run SWU updater
2. you get to the screen that says remove and replace your battery and click next
3. You put it into download mode and plug it in, then click next
4. You get to the detect drivers screen, and then click next (it appears right?)
5. It says "Device drivers are now installed" and asks you to unplug the USB cable. Then you click next.
6. It asks you to AGAIN remove and replace the battery then click next
7. You go into download mode for a second time, and plugin in again, and hit next.

Have you done everything above?

do you manually mount or does it auto do it when you plug in and yes i get drivers installed then next do the whole pull the bat the 2 time replug in and next then get to download now and thats where it stops
Oops sorry, you do not mount. I removed that from my post:eek:

Well, once you have gotten through all of those steps... I don't know what to say. Your phone is being recognized just fine, you seem to have the correct drivers (b/c it popped up that arrow) and the hardware seems good to go... I really have no idea why it is not downloading:thinking:

uninstall everything and try again, if no luck, then I would try a different pc, I did the process on my laptop running windows 7 64bit, it errored out a couple times at the point where it asks you to plug in the phone to the usb cable, nothing was being detected, I uninstalled the drivers and tried again, it took a few tries but after that the cl14, 2.1, and also joeys kernel updated flawlessly

cut and paste it somewhere else on your comp. i keep it in my downloads in my android file.

So do I have to run the update through the updater before I can cut and paste it? And after I save it, what do I do? Thanks for any help

Ok, I moved the file called: "SPH-M900_CL14_MR" and saved it. Is this the right one? The size is: 138 MB (145,556,992 bytes)

Is it now saved and am I safe to move on to the next step?

ok if you moved the sph900 .tar now you can load the new .tar file into there and run to achieve root.

Alright! And then I just follow the instructions on the SWUpdater? Also, when flashing Joey's rooted 2.1, do I have to first flash the first DD03 leak and then afterward flash His rooted Rom? (Thats what it looks like he says to do)

Heres what it says on the instructions:
"Required software
Must have Android 2.1 DD03
Recommended joeykrim recovery 2.1.3
SPH-M900_MR2_DD03_REL-joeykrim-recovery-2.1.3.tar - has both of these bundled together, Android 2.1 DD03 and joeykrim recovery 2.1.3."

What does "Must have Android 2.1 DD03" mean? I did download the original leak and also Joey's Rom and Recovery. Do I have to flash all 3 of those files?

Edit: It looks like I have to first flash the 2.1.3 recovery and then afterward, the joeykrim-SDX-a2.1-root.zip... Am I correct? Also, what does it mean to "adb push" to the USB? And what is "adb shell"?

SPH-M900_MR2_DD03_REL-joeykrim-recovery-2.1.3.tar this is the one you need to flash first then the rom.

Are you using a Gmail account? If so, your contacts will be saved on your Gmail account, and it is just a matter of you entering your email address and password and you'll have all your contacts (and contact photos if saved in gmail). It will wipe everything else. Anybody who has an Android phone without a gmail account is missing out.
Get the SWupdater from the Sprint site. Once installed, go to
following folder C:\Program Files\Samsung Electronics\SWUpgrade\Models\Binary.
Cut (remove) the file that is in that folder and store it on your computer in a safe place. Get the new file you want from the SDX website (linked above), and place it in the folder that folder (you are simply replacing the old file with a new one). Got to SWupdater and follow the directions. That is it.
