Root Do Ideos roms work on the M835?

Yes. Some do flash and work fine with only a few problems.

The problem I've found is a bunch of dead links for any Ideos ROMs including Dronix, so I gave up. I'm going to look a bit more into this, I'm feeling like I want to hack something now

@BlackTigress I'm gonna try throwing Ultrajack on my 835, since I think the ClockworkMod 3.0.0.5 recovery I have now is useless for flashing ICS or Dronix anyway. I now want Dronix since watching that video you posted

OK, so that was easier than I thought it would be. I managed to install Ultrajack 6.2.2 on my phone, as well as finding and flashing Dronix 0.4 Unfortunately, the Dronix 0.3 ROM with multitouch and 700+OC is nowhere to be found. EVERY link I find leads back to the same fileserve.com page with a deleted file message.

So, good news and some bad news:

Dronix 0.4 is a Froyo based (2.2.1) ROM that comes with a kernel that will allow OC up to 652 MHz. Not bad, there are also links to flash different kernels that will let you go 700 and over (!)

It works for the most part, I can call *228 and enter MPCS programming? My phone is decommissioned so I can't test SMS/MMS or further calling functionality. It is MUCH more responsive than CM7 and Stock 2.2!! Wi-Fi, Camera and Bluetooth all work as well.

What doesn't work:

Soft Key LEDs do not illuminate
No toggle keys in Notification pull-down screen, have to use power widget
"Roaming Indicator Off" is displayed on the lockscreen
Auto-Rotate does NOT work

Does anybody happen to have an old Dronix 0.3 zip, by any chance Nu2Moding????

Tried flashing:

Dronix 0.6 Gingerbread - No go, dead upon boot with a com.android.phone error, can't get past the touch android screen here.

FusionIDEOS 2.7.4 - Works, looks beautiful but has that dreaded NO UIM CARD error.
FusionIDEOS 2.7.10 Update - Same. Looks and works amazing, NO UIM CARD error.

Looks like (09042012) PlayfulGod port of CM7, Dronix 0.4 or Mate35 are the only ROMs that can be used with MPCS service. Later on I may take another shot at flashing a Nightly of CM9 ICS. There is one port that should have working phone and SMS, but my phone pukes that one back at me in recovery LOL. This ought to be fun....

Well since we had to disconnect our cell phones due to financial problems, I'll try to "mod" my phone..Still don't want to screw it up, so I'll wait until after I get a job (since I can still use the phone for 911..)

Sorry to hear that.

I don't think you have to worry about breaking your m835 though. I've flashed every ROM and kernel I could find for the Ideos, including 4.0 (ugh slowwww) and my 835 bounces right back. I swear this phone is almost bulletproof!!

There are a few issues when flashing Ideos ROMS:

-You lose auto-rotate
-Soft keys will not light up, but they still navigate
-Some support MPCS network usage (Dronix 0.4 works), most will have no service. There may be a way to fix this; I'm not a dev so I don't know. Also, you will have to manually program MMS so you can send pic messages, files etc...

In order to flash Ideos ROMS you have to use either Ultrajack recovery or use ROM manager app to manually install CWM recovery 3.0.2.4 for Ideos, as the CWM 3.0.0.5 (this is what you probably have on your phone) will NOT work! On the other hand there are a lot of over-clockable kernels you can flash to your stock software that will speed your phone up a bit!
