So yeah. I have the leaked 2.1 ROM installed, and I have root privileges...

Alls I did is, going through the tutorial, I didn't install a new ROM. Rooted, installed 2.1 leak. Done.

I'm probably missing something here, can't be that simple, but thought I'd mention it just in case...

Yes, it is that easy. It's amazing what you can do when you follow instructions correctly.

Just so you don't confuse yourself...nearly all of us are on 2.1 leak and we upgraded BEFORE 1.5 was rooted so we are screwed for now. No root for us.

technically, 1.5 wasn't rooted a rooted HTC signed 2.1 ROM was "stumbled upon" which has a lower version number than both 2.1 leaks but higher (obviously) than 1.5

You are absolutely right and I forgot that. Thanks for the reminder.

The point that sucks is that most of us pretty much gave up and then it hit us in the face right after "moving on". I'm just happy that some folks are able to enjoy a rooted phone in order to become more familiar with Android and Sense.
