Correct me if I'm wrong but...

I shouldn't have to endlessly look for and apply speed tips to get my phone fast enough to..oh I dunno...MAKE A PHONE CALL.

I shouldn't have to monitor my phones performance, clear cache, reboot, reset, check this site daily for info on official 2.1, etc. etc.

Maybe I'm just expecting to much as a consumer :p

I love/hate this phone.

My phone absolutely sucked because of lag when I had 1.5 but I upgraded to the 2nd 2.1 leak and it made my phone so much faster, it rarely ever lags. I would recommend upgrading to the 2nd 2.1 leak or hang in there and wait for the official 2.1 OTA. Don't give up the phone.

This. Among other speed/lag issues, I had the dreaded 2-3 second delay between pressing the on-screen "Hang Up" button on 1.5, but now on 2.1 it's nearly instant.

you people are seriously crazy. I have had my eris for about a week already and have not had any speed issues. Only if your being a moron and going crazy with apps and impatient with nano seconds you shouldn't have any issues.

Sure theres like a second lag here and there but if you seriously cannot deal with that then you should have gotten the droid or overclock your eris

No they aren't crazy, when I had 1.5 my phone lagged like hell, but now that I have the 2.1 leak its running fine.

I dont think a week is a long enough time to give a completely accurate review. Although i never really had that many lag problems there was definitly some times when i did.

I don't view my "phone" as a phone.. I view it as more of just an Awesome device that can do a crazy amount of stuff, and hey! Guess what! It can even make/receive calls! AND IT FITS IN MY POCKET!!!!

if this phone was available to you 10 years ago, would you have cared about the HORRIBLE 2 SECOND DELAY when you hit the "end call" button? Do you even remember what the Top Mobile Device was in the year 2000? Do you know the FIRST EVER all in one camera phone was released to the public in 2000? and now, we have a 5mp digital camera built right into ours. The average mp of a digital camera from the year 2000 was between 1-2mp...

If you wanted a cell phone, you should have gotten a RAZR :)
this is called a SmartPhone.. and my observations have brought me to the conclusion that the smarter the owner of the device, the better experience they have with it :)

complaining about the performance of these devices is like Being pissed about lag issues on the first couple versions of windows..
It may just be me but, having a device that can take decent quality pictures and videos to upload straight to wherever, send and receive emails/texts, never get lost on the road again(GPS), use as a level for woodworking, connect to and control any PC from anywhere you have data/internet connection, Check the weather quickly before leaving the house, use as a tv guide, tell your DVR to record something from a remote location, MP3/Video player, Watch Online videos, Browse almost any website you can think of (pretty quickly might I add), Use as a USB modem for any computer, etc.... I think it's pretty damn impressive personally.. I could go on forever, and on top of all that, It makes good quality phone calls and FITS IN YOUR FREAKIN POCKET!

If it's a tad bit slow at times, who cares.. What else would you be doing? either nothing, or trying to make time to get on your computer, or find a place to sit down with your laptop (and probably a place to plug it in)

Probably my favorite post ive seen on this site. Sometimes people (me included) forget about how much this phone can actually do and its alot of stuff.

All I got to say is that yesterday I linked my eris up with my friends bluetooth in his car and meanwhile we were talking I went into the camcorder app and recorded the whole thing.

Gota say that was damn impressive. Also I was on the phone with my wifi on and I messaged my friend I was talking to on facebook meanwhile he was on speakerphone.

I don't know about you but I find this stuff to be amazing for a phone to do. Prior to the eris I had a juke which at the time was amazing because it had 2 gigs built in to play mp3s.

You people are spoiled which need more then what the droid eris provides. Thats all I gota say.

Don't get me wrong, people like this serve their purposes, In stating the obvious when it comes to improvements to new technology.. If it weren't for the nagging types, complaining about the tiny details(tiny when compared to all of the other awesome features), None of the developers would feel like making or fixing anything because there would be no-one to shut-up at that point..
LOL
(that was sarcasm before anyone gets their panties in a wad)

Seriously though, Learn a little more about your "phone" if thats what you still choose to call these things these days, and if you still don't like it simply because the Phone function lags a second or 2 sometimes, then i recommend the RAZR (srsly, RAZRs ROCK!!) Maybe you aren't ready for a Big Boy Mobile Device just yet :)

"I’m not comparing the Eris to anything except something that is supposed stay on all the time and work. I run my PC 24/7 and I’ve done that for a decade. My Windows 7 machine running 20 MILLION LINES OF CODE is more stable than my @#$% phone. "

Oh the many ways to contradict yourself, and you chose the most blatantly obvious one, one sentence right after the other :)
That sounds like a comparison to me.. and an Apples and Oranges one at that..
Your expectations place you in about... the year 2020.. maybe then your SmartPhone will be able to run 20 million lines of code and be stable...

There are many reasons your PC requires 110v power to be supplied to it power supply at all times to work the way you explained, which is also just ONE of the reasons your Windows 7 machine, IS NOT IN YOUR POCKET!!!!! which, in all actuality, could quite possibly make your SmartPhone a more advanced piece of equipment than your Windows 7 machine, simply because it CAN fit in your pocket, and do(a few)things your PC canNOT.. (if you really wanted to get technical in comparing the 2) But like I said, Apples and Oranges, it is really hard to compare them at all..

If MAKING A PHONE CALL is the most important thing in the whole world to you, buy a phone that does JUST THAT. Sure, my old Chocolate was a pro at making phone calls! But could it also serve as a pocket laptop? Of course not. And knowing that, I have a little patience when it comes to phone calls.

The bottom line is that it (my particular phone) still does pretty well considering everything else that the phone is dealing with at the time. I am able to make and receive phone calls. I'm happy.

And just a tip: try using the physical buttons to make a call and end a call. You will find that answering and hanging up that way are much faster.
