The LG Spirit (MS870) is fully capable of browsing the web at 4g speed while on a voice call (this was tested in the 48hr marathon too).
I totally forgot about this. Good one. :thumb: ;)
I'm also getting about the same battery life with about the same amount of use.
Nissan GT-R (LG Spirit) instead of dishing out tons more cash for a Veyron (GS3).
I have both phones and on performance they are both the same. The spirit has not lagged on me no matter what. So I would say it's much higher up than a GT-R. LOL :D

Same here, no lag issues at all!

I should clarify, I think the GT-R is uber bada$$. I think TopGear (UK) did the math and performance-wise it should have a sticker about $400k, not $90k. Meant to be sarcasm, like a GT-R is "settling", HA! I was against the NFC chip on the GS3... so half the price for all the hardware I do want; I'm ok with it. Wouldn't mind the extra RAM... but hasn't lagged yet, so no complaints.

Do love this phone. Who are some LG Devs I should be on the lookout for? Should the few of us try to get a bounty going?

Dang, you guys are getting fantastic battery life. I'm not sure if I'm getting that good of battery life.

When you first got the phone, did you let the battery drain completely and then charge until 100% and left it on the charger for awhile? I heard that helps maximize the battery.

Maybe my usage is heavier than you guys.

More than likely you are just a heavy user. I'm on my phone quite a bit at work, probably the only perk of being on 2nd shift. I took my phone off the charger when I left for work at 2:15 and by 9 I was down to 30%. I haven't gotten 24 hours out of a battery since I got a smart phone. Lol

I did drain it a lot reinstalling apps, settings, etc. out of the box after I got it, but didn't kill it. Then I let it charge to 100% and disconnected. Ran it down a bit and babied it back on the charger when I noticed it really didn't lose much over hours like my Indulge did. Thus, the test

I am starting to get concerned about my perceived lack of battery life.

Now point taken I've only had it 3 days and I've read it takes a few full charges for things to "settle in".

I have the same apps (a few less actually) than I have on my Motion and had on my DroidXs so I am pretty familiar with how they drain. All the usual GPS/Wifi/Vibe is off. My freekin' screen is even at 30%. The only thing different is I have Stay Smart on but **I think that only matters when the screen is on** (Please correct me if it still senses when the screen is off, that wouldn't even really make sense.)

For example. I took it off charge last night at 10:45. I have hardly used the phone At All and 12 hrs later I'm at 66%. (To illustrate hardly any at all, Screen use was 11% for a whole 39 min. [39 mins of use and the rest idle time has killed 1/3 of the battery in 12 hrs!??] The only usage above 11% is Android system with 52%

This seems like way fast drain with not much usage except idle functions.

Now, I DID make the minor mistake on the first charge before use of just charging til the phone said full charge instead of 12 hrs but I've also read that just lengthens the time it takes for the battery indicator to settle in.

My levels aren't even close to what yall are indicating I don't think and this is with a whole 39 minutes of use in 12 hrs.

What do you all think here?

I'm not familiar with Stay Smart..? Does it have "network access" in it's permissions? Maybe stealing batt with 4g for nonsense app stat tracking?

Are you running it all the way down (10% or less) before putting it back on the charger? Try that a few times for the % stats to get better accuracy; run it down then full charge. When I charge it, I put it on the charger before I crash for the night, and pull it off in the morning before I start getting ready for work. It's pretty consistent going through the day and into the next. Idle hardly uses much of anything.

If you do the math on your missing 34% (66% left), you're still looking at about 32+ hrs of battery (~35hrs to dead batt). I know it's hard to just let it keep going, because we're so used to constantly plugging it in; but let it go to find out what you really can get out of it.

Maths:
34/100 = 12/x
x=35.294 hrs

Stay Smart is the LG function that uses the front camera sensor to keep the screen on when your face is in front of it. (But as I mentioned, I would think it would only sense when the screen was on so it shouldn't affect battery life when idle.) I went ahead and turned it off, as it was about the only thing running on this phone not running on my Motion.

I recharge at 15%. Letting the battery get much lower than that stresses it and reduces it's life.

I think it's called "Wise Screen" and you may not want to let a Li-ion battery ever drop below 40% (cf. batteryuniversity.com) Finally, if I'm near my home's hotspot I always leave wi-fi on, on my Motion, as leaving it off causes the phone to intermittently search for and use the data connection (sometimes 4g). This always causes the battery to drain faster. The Spirit should be in my mail box today, can't wait.

What works for me....

---Disabled the usual gps - wifi - I don't use wise screen
---Disabled animations - vibrate - haptic feedback
---When in dim lighting I shut off screen brightness from pull down
---When done using phone I hold down home button and kill all then clear ram with stock widget
---I only use 4G, even when I'm home

What gave me the biggest results was a few days after I got the phone, I let it discharge till it shut off. Then I turned it back on, and when it got to the lock screen it shut off. I then put it on the charger and once it was full I gave it another 15min. Doing this I gained about an extra 5hrs. of charge.

I am not suggesting any of this to anyone, it's simply what I do.

Here's a screen shot of my current stats.

Keep in mind, the Spirit is not my primary phone...

Well, I see part or hopefully all my issue. The battery power sensing is taking awhile to settle in and acting wonky. Remember I was at 66% at 1045 AM today. It's been stuck on 25% now for over 2 hrs. I used it, saw it drop to 24 then back up to 25. Guess I'll just let it get low (10%) and recharge. (Now I'm at this alleged 25%, 18.5 hr, just 2 hr 5 min screen time.)

I knew this happens but never to this extent with me before.

Using 4g drains more battery than wifi... is that not the case here?

Yeah, that's what I noticed too (I think I said something similar in another post above). It hovers around 25% for a long time and that's what my "power save mode" was set to as default even though I don't have it enabled. Had to run it down past that a few times to get more accurate...still hovers around 25% for me though. Not that I mind it's hard to kill.

It probably still is the case.

However, I pay for unlimited 4G and it happens to be over 6 Mbps down in my area, so I don't use wifi. Weather on wifi or 4G, it's never made a significant difference for me in battery life.

I watched 1.5+hrs of Netflix straight on 4g at full res, only cost me ~17%of batt (55%-38%). That never would have happend with my Indulge.

I'm officially impressed with my battery life, the first charge wasn't a full discharge/charge and it wasn't all that great but I let it go down to about 10-15% and let it charge overnight.

I'm on day 2 with normal use and I still have 25% (it's been sitting at 25 for over 2 hours now!)

My phone also was showing 50% Android consumption on the first half ass charge and now it's a cool and collected 25-30%:D

I thought I'd keep a log of my first 6 days of charges and see how things shook out. I would consider myself a low to low-medium user.

If anyone is getting consistently better times than this and are actually USING their phone, I'd like to know how.

I originally had the 12 hr break and ending all on the same lines. The margins here don't permit that so I'll attach the text file as an attachment and see it that stay readable.

Your comments on how long I'm lasting on battery are appreciated.

I'll post the table again as another post under this but the AF software will scrunch it all together. :(

2/28-29 9 26h 17m 2h 32m 23 7 26 (ROG 11)

Notes;
Sat 2/23 Around mid-morning the phone got noticably warm while just doing some surfing. That's when I checked and saw the 50%+ Battery usage for Android Systems and that had me starting to Goggle that. There were no other instances where it got that warm again, and the AS usage numbers dropped starting mainly on Sunday.

The first few charges took longer times to charge, 2.5 hrs or more. That also settled down to a bit over 2 hrs the 3rd day.

Tues 2/26 D/L a game (Rise of Glory) and played about an hour of it, probably cut down on my screen time some over Mon-Tues.

Wed 2/27 1st 12 hrs. Probably as close to full idle as I get.
