Hi!


I wounder if the battery time will get better on

Jelly Bean instead of the version 4.0.4 It ran out pretty fast on 4.0.4..

Some said it was better battery time in earlier Android version

on the S2 than the 4.0.4 version.. I don't know but I think it's true..

And also alot of peoples said it was better battery on the Samsung Galaxy S2

then a iPhone 4..

My friend have a iPhone 4 and use the phone diligently like me

but he still has much more battery left then me!.. And
we also played same game today, but he still had much more battery left.

So I really hope the battery time will improve in Jelly Bean..


Because it's very short in this 4.0.4 even my Zte Blade battery was almost better I think..

Will it? Improve it was the question...

About the Jelly Bean update for the S2..

There are pretty much peoples having problems with their Samsung Galaxy S2 turning off with no reason, I also have it..

I think it's a software issue, on the 4.0.4 Android version, but why doesn't all have the problem that it just turns off?? Then all with 4.0.4 on the S2 would have it? Huh??..

I use "delete ram" I don't know if it's named the same in English as my phone is
on Swedish and I translated the word by my own..

Anyway it says: Turnd of 27 programs..
Why are there alot of programs on??
That I don't even haven't use..
And I dind't have any app on even...

Maybe that's a reason for bad battery life/time??..

But if I click delete RAM again it says turnd of 6 programs..
So it turns on some by own..

Maybe it's some for the system or what??..

Same behavior when you recently started the phone!.

Hi I have just upgraded to JB and noticed that battery life is considerably shorter. I would say that mines lasts about 25% less that it did before. Any ideas? Anyone else seeing this? I updated to JB last Wednesday so i would have hoped it would have sorted itself out by now.

Google now loves eating batteries and can be disabled through search settings. Also the motion option appears battery intensive as well.

I made these changes and I can get +24 hours from the extended battery

The battery will take a few days to recalibrate, try resetting the fuel chip by fully charging the battery then removing it from the phone for about 5 mins

Have been using JB for almost 3 months now, on 2 different versions, LSJ and LS8.

#1. Battery life, for me, is better than GB and roughly the same as ICS, particularly with the new, "Power Saving", setting. See battery saving tips for both rooted and un-rooted phones... "Battery Saving - Dummies Guide".

#2. I have never experienced a shut down issue on any of the platforms, GB, ICS or JB, as I always do a clean install. See #1.2, here.

#3. I believe you are referring to, "Task Manager", and closing running app's. This is a sure fire way of killing your battery as Android will just re-start the app's again. Do NOT use Task Manager or Task Killers as they should not be needed.

Everyone's situation is different. But I was having the same symptoms.


My battery was draining in 12hrs or less with me hardly using it or not at all.
I installed GSam Battery Monitor and found out the Media Storage app was to blame in particular the Downloads service.
I did some reading around and supposedly certain files cause the app to go crazy.
I backed up my SDcard and the phone's internal memory.
Formatted the SD card but the problem still existed.
Formatted the internal storage and the problem is gone.
I'm giving it a week of monitoring to see what changes. But after 3 days. The app/service to blame is only using 0.2%

At the end of the week I will load back some of my files to see if it is triggered again.
When I flashed LS8 files and folders belonging to apps I had installed stayed. My guess is the MediaStorage app didn't like that.

On mine it appears that the Mediaserver service is to blame. Any ideas how to format the Internal Storage? How does this work?

Backup any files you have there. Photos, downloads, music, whatever.
Then go to Settings > Storage > Format USB Storage.
Bear in mind this will wipe the internal storage.

Then see how you get along. If you see that it's fixed then copy over your personal files that were on there.

Internal storage requires a Factory reset.

Settings > Backup and reset > Factory data reset

To format phones built-in USB storage...

Settings > Storage > Format USB storage

To format external SD card...

Settings > Storage > Format SD card

My fault for the misinformation. By internal storage in Post#9 I meant USB storage i.e. the storage available to you to use built into the phone.

Dont really want to do the USB as yet or restore to factory. One thing i did notice though was that my screen was set to dynamic. Changed this to standard to see if it does anything.

To turn off Google Now; open Google through the widget, and then open settings though the bottom right button... first option is google now.

Checked that and Google Now if off anyway.
Battery still no way near as good as ICS. Ride into work would normally leave me with 89% (1 hour ride listening to music player) now its around the 75% mark. The only 2 things that have changed is ICS to JB. Very strange.

How strange Leevis. Assuming that you did a, "vanilla", install that you enquired about in your earlier posts and that you did not use any settings from ICS or app's that are not yet compatible with JB and that you are using Power Saving in Settings I would have at least expected your battery life to be on a par with ICS after a battery re-calibration and 3 or 4 charge cycles thereafter.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, you can make battery savings by following the tips for rooted and un-rooted phones that are shown in...

Arrived in work at battery was at 90% so i guess that it is on a par with what it was before on ICS. One thing i did differently this morning was to turn off the wifi before i left. I guess that this must hammer the battery a lot more on JB than it did on ICS.
