Help How to manage bluetooth devices when you switch ROMs all the time?

So I've been playing around with a few ROMs, but it seems that Bluetooth identifies the device by MAC address, and since that's consistent from one ROM to the next, I seem to have to pair all over again for each device every time I change my ROM.

I have like 6 or 7 BT devices to repair everytime i change ROMs. Are you guys dealing with this same challenge, or is there something I could be doing differently?

It's the same thing as your apps, either restore them with TiBu or after everything is all set just make and then restore from a nandroid.

The bluetooth devices themselves don't seem to recognize my device on the new ROM. It's almost like they recognize my MAC address, but the rest of my credentials aren't lining up for them.

Let's say I'm on Mobster HD and my BT devices are working fine. Then I change ROMs to Wild for the Night. I have to pair with those devices again. OK so far.

Now when I switch back to Mobster HD, those devices don't want to connect with me. It's almost like they recognize me (maybe through MAC address) but I'm not giving the correct credentials or something. I wonder if they can only pair with one device per MAC address or something.

Or am I imagining things...does it work OK for you?

Like I said, when you first boot the ROM you have to setup your devices, once you have a nandroid it shouldn't be an issue.

It's an issue. It really is. Maybe it shouldn't be, but it is

I just went back to my Wild for the Night NANDROID, and my bluetooth docking station isn't connecting. I can guarantee that if I pair with it again while in Wild for the Night, and then restore my NANDROID for Mobster HD, it won't pair for me.

I am starting to think it's the device, not the phone that has a problem. Are you speaking from experience or giving me a text book answer...I mean no offense, but what you are telling me doesn't jive with reality

This isn't just this one docking station/speaker...all my BT devices refuse to connect when i go back to a NANDROID if I pair them on a new ROM. Any chance that they are limited to a single pairing per MAC address? I assume what's going on for me is that the BT device sees that my HTC Shooter has a certain MAC address, and is expecting a particular set of credentials to follow. What I suspect is that while any device can support 5 or more pairings, it's limited to one pairing from any given MAC address.

Is there a way to change the Bluetooth MAC address for my EVO using some app?

It works for my Jawbone and my Samsung HS3000 stereo adapter, those are the only bluetooth devices that I use. None of your devices will pair after a nandroid or TiBu restore?

I'll have to setup a controlled experiment tomorrow to see if ALL of them behave this way. As of this post, Mobster HD is paired and working fine with everything...but since it's a controlled experiment, I'll double confirm.

Then, I'll restore my Wild for the Night NAND and pair them with that ROM.

Then, I'll restore Mobster HD NAND (just made one tonight anyway to test out that new Alien JB ROM) and see if they connect like they should or not.

But this time around, I'll be sure to check EVERY device. Any merit to the notion that some devices support only one pairing per MAC address even though you can pair them with several other devices?

Once I've confirmed that they do not connect, I'll need to look for a MAC address spoof of some sort.

You also just made me realize that I own a Jawbone that I haven't been using much lately. I'l be sure to include that in my experiment as they may support multiple pairings per MAC address. I have an older Icon. The newer ones have HD on the packaging. Which one do you have?

By the way, this morning on my commute, I had to re-pair with my car as I was running Wild for the Night instead of Mobster. Keep in mind that this past weekend, I had initially installed Wild for the Night and paired with my car. Restoring that NANDROID with the pairing didn't help. I had to pair all over again. Furthermore, when I switch back to Mobster, I am confident that I'll have to re-pair again.

As mentioned, I am going to test all my devices. In the meantime, is there a way I can manipulate my BT MAC address? I would need this manipulation to be ROM specific rather than universal, else I'll still have this same problem.
