I'm looking for a good, fun, cool ROM...I know there're PLENTY of ROMs out there but I'm new & know very little to nothing about ROMs & how to go about installing them....ALL HELP/SUGGESTIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!! P.S. I am VERY new to all this so please don't throw anything @ me that I won't be ready for lol ...............Thanks!

Ok so I'm VERY new to all of this btw... I rooted my Evo V successfully yesterday, and that was the 1st time I attempted to altar any software of any kind on any device every in my life EVER. I was terrified at the time thinking that I would screw something up & render my phone completely useless/helpless, but thanks to the good folks on this forum site (and not to mention the many walkthroughs) I was able to get through it :):):D:smokingsomb: #DroidHeaven :car::car::car::car::car:

I would recommend the Mobsters HD rom for you to start off, it works with all HBoots and has nice features and enhancements. :)

Try mobster Rom :D

This is the correct answer. Use it for several days, then go try another ICS ROM. I suspect you'll be back within a few hours.

As far as JB ROMs go, I haven't found one that I like enough to stop using ICS Mobster. It takes a little tweaking sometimes with JB ROMs as some have GPS issues, and others don't work well with Virgin Mobile MMS. You also may have to change your bootloader to run these ROMs.

In other words, after you get on a JB ROM, you'll have to go and grab some other files and replace the ones that came with the ROM oftentimes. You may even have to add lines to some script files, or rename them. It's not that hard, but it's more work. The Virgin Mobile specific JB ROMs may have some of the files already patched for you, which will cut down on your legwork.

To sum up: Mobster HD :D

Edit:

Unlocked Potential is essentially the same ROM by the same developer. The color theme is different, but I much prefer to blue theme of Mobster to the stock HTC greenish theme which Unlocked Potential serves up.

I guess I should state that I used the "Complete Newbie's Guide to rooting and flashing Evo V 4G ROMs/Kernels using fastboot". That's where I am currently (set up wise), I didn't do the "s-off" or "4EXT" yet....I'm actually a little hesitant to do anything more since I haven't found anymore "step by step" type of "hold your hand" instructions lol.....I'm so scared I'm gonna screw something up...

I know how you feel. Oftentimes vastly knowledgeable people in this forum are quick to tell you what to do, but not HOW to do it. I've spent countless hours translating a suggestion into a set of steps. It's part of the learning process. The step by step, hand-holding guides are here and there, but a lot of the time, you need a basic fundamental understanding of terms and procedures to really zip through and get er done.

You don't need S-OFF at this point. But 4EXT is really sweet, so I recommend that you install it. Let me go over my notes for 4EXT installation right quick and see if I have any pointers for you.

I can't remember exactly what I did to install 4ext. I think I installed it from within the ROM. It is an apk after all. Google search for 4ext recovery. Should be the first link. You want the first option to download. The full version can wait for now. I think add that on afterwards.
Make a backup afterwards by booting into recovery.

I don't know what to tell you. There is a chat feature on juopunut website and they can help you in real time if there is someone there. But they are particular in how they offer support. They will ask you to make sure you read the instructions. Which operating system are you using?

You were stuck at juopunutbear screen because it replaces boot and recovery of the phone to s-off and then afterwards you I believe reinstall recovery then flash a ROM. Or restore a backup that you may have made already. You just need to install the fast boot drivers and then reopen the program that's all. You didn't screw up the phone. It keeps you on the juopunutbesr screen until you have successfully gained s-off. And there is a few commands you run that will restore the boot and recovery if you wish to not continue trying s-off. Find the troubleshooting section on the website and then scroll down and follow each step exactly as followed. I recommend to forget the IEC chat thing that was recommended for help. They haven't been friendly lately. I've been a noob to this phone up until a few days ago. :D I got s-off and all was well. You just gotta keep going til you get it. :p
