I was attempting to do "s-off" and made it to the point where Control Bear kept telling me to "open device manager and check adb and/or fastboot drivers!!" ....now my screen is stuck on the juopunut bear screen with the green arrow pointing down :( ...I tried to unplug the phone and take the battery out but when I turned the phone back on it came right back to this screen....PLEASE HELP

I would say to go here and read through the list, make sure you have followed everything correctly. And then just plug your phone back in and resume from where you left off. Try to run ControlBear.exe again. Did you run ControlBear.exe as admin?

If you have followed everything correctly and can't resume the steps from where you left off, you can try the support they have on the website. You go into the IRC and someone there can help you out. Here.

Did you make sure to uninstall HTC Sync and disable anti-virus? Are you on stock ROM? Are you unlocked? I'm just glancing through the list of requirements and looking at anything you might have overlooked. Look at Step 2 - Control Bear and verify you've followed steps 1-6.

This happened to me. to fix the phone you have to remove/replace the battery and boot it into the bootloader (power + vol down) use fastboot from a computer to flash the kernel (boot.img) which you can extract from your rom using any archive software including native zip file handling in windows. That command is: fastboot flash boot boot.img . Next flash your recovery image: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img . The s-off process overwrites both partitions and their contents must be replaced or all your phone will do is boot to a J-someting-bear screen. Use the recovery to restore a backup, or reflash the phone.

There are a lot of posts around here about how easy s-off is. It is easy, if nothing goes wrong.

I believe the instructions are if you want to restore and then try again. I'm not an expert with this at all, but I know that when I did S-off the first time, I unplugged my phone for something, and then was able to reconnect after and continue the process. I would recommend clicking the link I posted earlier to verify that you have met all of the requirements (start with uninstalling HTC Sync), and then if you something is still wrong, go into that IRC. They know what they're doing there. If you can't get further after that, then you can do a restore and try again.

I remember you have to open a CMD prompt in the juopunut folder and type "Controlbear -f" , make sure you device is being recognized if its not go to another computer and install htc syn and copy the juopunutbear folder and do the process.

BTW it will mess up your sd cards partition, you can fix it using gparted a linux program.

If your in fastboot mode i recommend flashing the boot image. If your using stock download the stock boot.img or if your using a custom rom download the boot image and place it in the juopunut folder and right click while holding shift and select open cmd promp here then type this command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" make sure your in fastboot mode.

Im sorry guys .....I FREAKED... well like I said the juopunut bear screen went away after I took the battery out for a few minutes. I then put the battery back in and plugged up the phone & the phone automatically went to "bootloader" menu & from there I just proceeded to re-flash the stock ROM I flashed yesterday (from when I rooted my phone for the 1st time)......So now the phone is going through the same process from yesterday and I think all will be well whenever it finishes :)... Thanks for all your help & input once again!

P.S. I think I'll leave my phone alone after this whole ordeal lol no more hacking 4 me......well until I get my confidence back anyway :(
