How do you all deal with the weak vib on this phone

Hello all,
First of all, I'm a very happy Eris user. I've had the phone since January and have just decided to "put up with" the fact the vibration is too weak. But its starting to get rediculous. I miss calls, texts and emails constantly with this phone! And just yesterday, my Boss actually made a comment to me about it (something like "you need to start answering you damn phone!"). I had a BB for 5 years leading up to my getting the Eris in January and rarely missed a call or message.

I have Smart Vibrate loaded and have programmed distinct patterns, but it's not helping. If somebody doesn't have a good idea or remedy for this, I might be forced to go back to BB.

I've read posts like this before and everybody just seems to deal with this, but please tell me somebody has a trick they can share.

Thanks!

Like I mentioned, I'm already using custom vib patterns with Smart Vibrator. But it's not helping. If I have jeans on I tend to have better luck feeling the phone because the pockets tend to be tighter on jeans. But if I have slacks or a suit on, no way. I actually forgot how much stronger the vib is on BB until yesterday when I put a colleagues BB phone into my slacks pocket and then called it... had no issues feeling the vib on that thing.

I have a custom ringtone that's already sampled to be really loud. So I hear it. My notification for emails is "Woodblock" as is my text, which also has the vibrate on as well. Woodblock is pretty high pitched and I can hear it from another room.

If your issue is not being away of calls, this should fix it. If it's focused solely on the vibrate not being strong enough, I dunno.

i just have my notifications on really loud. I love the looks I get when R2D2 goes off, and everyone just turns and shakes their heads because they are jealous their iPhones can't do that without being hacked. :p

It's like this joke i heard where the car engineer can't fix the breaks, so he makes the horn much louder.

I too found the vibration to be very weak on the phone, however I did not want to give up the phone due to this. Using a ringtone is an option for me, but I find ringtones obnoxious in public settings. I use Smart Vibrator to remedy the problem, to an extent. I notice with mine that it's the pattern that matters not so much how strong the vibration is. When I first started using it I used the ------- pattern, which is all long vibrations. I found that .-.-.-.- is more distinctive and I can detect it more easily. The alternating short (.) with long (-) breaks up the vibrations and to me makes it more detectable. You may find other patterns that work better for you.

anyone else find that strange?

ANNYYYWAYYYY

only option you have is to change the vib pattern, or get one of these.

I've had my Eris since December and I actually wrote to VZW asking them if every Eris had a low vibrate feature. The results I got were all "Take it into a store and have them look at it". I explained to them that this was a widespread issue with lots of Eris owners. They actually stated that they had not heard of any issues. After many back and forth emails, the last email I got from them was "Yes the Eris has an issue with the vibrate function, but there is nothing we can do for you". Wow, thanks VZW. I've been very happy with my Eris but it does stink when I am at work and can't have it on ringer. Besides the vibe issue, its been the best phone I ever had. Now if only my Seidio 1750 came in today.....

nothing verizon can do. its a hardware issue, and therefore the manufacturers issue.

I don't really have a problem with it, I do agree tha my BB has a stronger vibrate then my Eris but I always feel it. My only problem is sometimes when I'm pulling my phone out of my pocket to answer it I'll accidently clear it. But luckly my Eris is my peronsal phone so missing a call from a friend is not a big deal , my BB is my work phone

Well all I can say is I don't go to school anymore, but before, when I did and had the original iPhone, vibrate was my preference. But for now, I just go with a ring tone as I'm not in those quiet settings anymore. Sometimes I do switch it off, and if I forget to switch it back on, I usually recognize it in my pocket vibrating, but definitely prefer to have the ringtone, because at home or at work, I leave it at my desk and am not always there to here it.

I swear though I have to bolt to this stupid ass phone because it will ring like 3 times max. Love the look of this phone so much though, but maybe I should consider functionality over beauty (BB).

Or not. :p <3
