Today is not my day...

Besides losing my debit card, or thinking i did and cancelling and coming to find out it was in my car, wedged between a seat

A funny and humorous thing has happened...

I complain a lot about my eris because it's not what i wanted or thought it would and could be

LAG, LAG, LAG, LAG...

Except now...I wish i had it...

I accidentally left my eris in my friend's car this morning while we went to ihop and she won't back till like 6 so now I'm stuck using a 1st generation Blackberry storm i had from like 2008...no battery cover, scratches all over and it's taking forever to charge...

You should've seen me typing...I'm so use to the capacitive touch screen, i forgot the bb screen clicks...

I am scanning my phone looking for my android application, forgetting...oh wait, this is a storm

and the lag?? Ha...

There is even no wi-fi so i'm stuck on 3g which is horrid in my library

so never again will I complain about my eris and the fact of how much it sucks because right now...

After using a blackberry storm...I can safely say that it is not that bad...

Now if i was stuck using a windows mobile phone for the day, I might need to be on suicide watch...

Today just isn't my day lol....

Friday at 11 pm on Memorial weekend last year I couldn't find my key card and couldn't swipe in for work. Couldn't get a replacement until Tuesday and lost three days of pay. When they deactivated my old card and issued a new one, I found the old one in my brother's car. Glad my my boss was understanding enough not to fire me, but the loss of holiday pay sucked hard.
Whenever I use my old HTC Touch (which I use for my mp3 player at work), I just feel.... dirty. Glad I only need to get into that one program, because I, and I assume that you as well, despise WinMo.
And at least I could talk my wife into spending more for the Storm2. She has to constantly remind me, "Honey, it's not like your Eris, you have to actually click the screen."

Well while you have the storm out make sure you update it to 5.0, I can safely say I would be perfectly ok on a Storm I as long as it had the new software. Not saying I wouldnt miss the eris but it would be far from a horrifying experiance. although I can actually type faster on a Storm than I can on the eris anyway.

I agree about winmo though, after 10 minutes on a winblows mobile I want to stab someone

yes, OTD it's just one of those days....

lol the funny story is i was getting all dolled up to take some pix on my eris for facebook(and im sure that this might elicit some type of smart remark) and my sd card is on the eris but i figured out the phone stores it in the device memory, something I wish the eris could do....

But i've yet to actually activate the storm and it's brutal because im used to texting my butt off in class and i was practicing typing earlier and i was so slow(again, i haven't used it since i got it back in 2008) so now im forced to actually pay attention

Although...Maybe this is some higher powers work that is actually forcing me to pay attention because I actually just realized where I thought we were in Accounting is 3 chapters behind lol

So maybe this is there way of saying paying attention CARMEN!!!

ha but im not too worried about any new software...I just need to make it till like 6 o'clock when she gets back

if the phone you want to switch to isn't activated, you just dial *228 and follow the instructions from there.

Actually i think i have to call

my friend said the data package that works with the eris is not the same data plan a blackberry uses

i would need to be temporarily switched to a blackberry data plan for it to be activated

which is stupid, in my opinion but what can u do

quick question....how do you switch between phones when you don't have the eris with you?

Well the eris is supposed to be off anytime you want to switch a phone

however i just called verizon, had them switch me to a blackberry plan
and then i did *228 option 1

i guess since the two phones or nowhere near each other it didnt matter
lol

sorry for your loss Carmen (btw your name says it all I guess ;) Sounds expensive to switch on your BB plan for just a day. 6 pm will get here soon enough. Although I don't do it often and at first always have a momentary "oh no!' when I realize I have accidentally left my phone at home, after a bit I always rejoice in the freedom of being virtually uncontactable. I think everyone should do it every once in awhile.

You do know that this is considered heresy on most phone forums and would normally lead to a burning at the stake?

Just for future reference ... Did losing your card mean you couldn't physically get in to work? If not, and you could still actually do your job - they HAVE to pay you. That's the law. Swipe card or not, if you work, you must be paid. They need to have arrangements for a lost card. (on the flip side, they can fire you for losing the card - probably not good business practice, but still legal most likely).

I'm a regular adherent to that philosophy, and have been since long before cell phones came into existence.

Many old surfers, hang glider pilots, sky divers and beach runners from my era (long, long ago) are still the same way, I've noticed.

I totally get you Frisco. btw, you say beach runners, do you mean joggers? Did you hear about that poor guy down my way in Myrtle Beach who was struck by a small plane that had stalled and was crash landing on the beach. He was killed while jogging on the beach? He had his ipod in and didn't hear the plane. No joke. So..yes...an ipod can kill ya.

I sure did hear about him, I have relatives at Wright's Beach who drive down to Myrtle Beach regularly; I got an email with a link to the article in the local paper there.

One of my favorite tattoo parlors in the U.S. is right there on the main drag.

Anyway, yep, he didn't hear a thing.. the engine had stopped and the pilot was basically gliding the craft to landing. Poor bloke was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.. going the wrong way, too, I guess.

Precisely. If you don't have your card, you can't even be on property. It's used to track where you've been throughout your day, so if you don't have it, they get nervous. I believe they do have some emergency protocol's in place but being the holiday weekend, everyone but us schlubs were on vaycay. Oh well, lesson learned.

I have switched back and a fourth a few times between my Storm 1 and my Eris by just calling *228. I have not had any problems. I will tell you that if you originally had the $49 BB plan and switch by using *228 to the Eris it will downgrade you to the $29 plan automatically. I left it there since I am not using BES. I have switched probably half a dozen times. I guess I havent gotten comfortable with the Eris cause I keep switching back to the Storm. Not Knocking it, just like my S1 better. Although I do wish I had the webkit browser and WiFi. The wife has an Eris and she loves it so thats the most important thing to me. Now, she'll have a spare incase sometihng happens to her. Just sad that we havent had them for 2 months yet and they are already being discontinued.

But either way I can 100% understand how devastating it is to be without your device. I have seperation anxiety when I leave it at my desk and I walk away for more than a few minutes. What If I miss something? a text, a BBM, an email, Twitter, Facebook, Gtalk, MSN Messenger, Yahoo. Then I get back and nothing =(

Oh god!
I am back to using my eris.

I actually kissed it.

I was typing in class and i was getting nervous because i thought people could here the screen clicking and then I was trying to figure out how to silence the storm and it rung in class and you know storm vibrates and ringtones are powerful and loud!!

oh what a day what a day lolzzz

But all is well.....

I did have to switch plans to go to the blackberry(well data packages anyway) and then had to switch back for the original plan with the eris
