So my Brother has an iPhone, and has had it for several years. Now that I have a Droid, we tend to check each others phones out. the score for this weekend -

Droid - 1 - for "My Tracks" - my Bro really wishes for something as good for his iPhone. But apperently, google and apple don't get along? too bad for him....

iPhone 1 - for 3g - we were at our fishing cabin this weekend, which is out in BFE. I had one bar of 1x, Bro had 3g. It's the Map, right? Fail...

the number of bars does not indicate actual usable signal strength.

I've had plenty of circumstances where I had either 1 or 0 bars of service, yet I was able to make/receive calls and get data at decent speeds.
I've also had instances where ATT phone showed perfect 3g signal with 4 or 5 bars but was unable to make/receive calls and unable to get any data to go through.

So I would not judge by just the # of bars shown on the phone (any phone).

An example would be a couple of weeks ago, I went bowling with a co worker. he had an iphone 3gs showing full bars 3G signal, my droid had 1 bar 1X.
I was able to connect to internet and download email etc, he could not get any connection and couldn't even make a phone call. every test call I made to his phone went directly to voicemail. (I dialed out from my droid that only had 1 bar and 1x).

So next time try to make some calls, or download some data to test the connection. don't rely on just the display # of bars.

Physical keyboard suck on droid.

Droid has swype, iPhone don't...

Various choices on droid, Iphone 1.

It's over 9000

Have you used the physical keyboard on the Droid and tried to use it for a few days? It has a steep learning curve, just like Swype does, and it becomes very convenient to type and be able to see what's on the screen at the same time.

Yeah i used physical quite alot actually until i found swype. I still don't like the way they implement the physical keyboard. Hated it.

Meh, I guess it's different for everyone. I could never get into Swype, or anything that took up screen space, for that matter. HTC_IME was alright for me but still not quite as good as the physical keyboard.

i love love love how apple disses certain features such as multitasking and having a serch bar on the home area and then as soon as they can implement it into the new os. lol it kills me. i know that ipod touch could search through the entire ipod but now it can search the web.

i read they were saying that searching is for desktops and it was dead most people spend time in apps not searching......yet we made sure it was put into our new phone.

he also said multitasking is something that most users wont really use but we also added that.

I wanted an iphone until i got my droid now i will never give a single cent of my money to apple. the way they handle themselves. I do realize it is about making money and its all a competition but really?

the one thing that stands out more than anything about them is when they announced the ipad and that it would have something better than Kindle and i Quote " we stood on amazon's shoulders and just made ours better." and yet you take out a patent and sue HTC because it uses a swipe to unlock feature? apple is the biggest piece of hypocrite bull i have ever seen in my life. They get scared so they sue to slow down there inevitable death which from android is coming

You should get the speedtest app to test your data speed against his iPhone. You can't rely on the bars the phone is showing for signal.

Heh, I was just doing some school work with a friend who has an iPhone. We got to discussing how AT&T sucked and I whipped out the Droid to show off my superior 3G speed, only to be shocked by my own results! I usually get like 1.3Mbps but today I got:

Haha, oh yeah, and they just got Opera Mini today, and I beat his iPhone loading engadget.com while I was on 3G and he was on the university's wifi, lol (both using Opera Mini loading the full site).

Good stuff, heh.

Well, we didn't do an "offical" speed test, but we were sitting around the campfire, both using google maps, looking at satalite pics of reefs in the bay. Both phones worked, but the iPhone was a lot closer to what I would call "normal" speed. My droid could get the maps down, but it was sloooooow. Same for youtube. His was about normal speed, mine took 5 minutes to load a 3 minute video.

Ok, how did you get Speedtest to work on the droid? I get a "you need flash" message on that page...

Jobs is getting delusional as time goes on. His phone is stagnant so he chooses to attack. However, more and more people are going to figure out that innovation has stopped on the iPhone and the competitors are picking up where the iPhone left off.

This is actually advantage iPhone. Physical design is 10,000 times better for iPhone, that is one of the very few real advantages iPhone has over Droid.

Speak for yourself. You say the iPhone is streamlined and sexy and the Droid is big and bulky. I say the iPhone looks like a dinky toy and the Droid looks like it can take a punch and then dish it back out.

Ditto. Personally I prefer the physical look of the DROID over the iPhone. I'm not a fan of the whole really thin and streamlined look. I'd be too afraid I'm to break it by dialing too hard. I prefer a tough sturdy look over a thin "sexy" look.

I want my girls sexy and my phone tough!

It will be interesting when the IPhone finally does come to Verizon.

Then the proof will be in the pudding.

Will more people buy the IPhone on Verizon, or will more people by an Android on Verizon.

If it were today, I'd buy the Droid(which I did back in Nov). But, after the IPhone-4 comes out(assuming on Verizon), we'll have to re-compare.
