The Samsung Galaxy S4 is RUMORED to come out within the coming months. And its a pretty reliable rumor lol. Do you guys think that it will be available for us "Metro PCS" at launch or would we have to wait once again?

Im hoping that due to the merger with T-Mobile we would not have to wait at all :)

but you never know right?

If you guys noticed the pattern with metro they never get the high tech phones first, they let the bigger carriers get their fill and they when retail value of the phone comes down to a certain magic number oh i dont know lets say $500 thats when metro takes the plunge. do i see the s4 launching with a premium price of $500? hell no all flagship samsung phone hit those $700-$850 numbers and theres no way metro is gonna get a phone for their customers when is its as much as a mortgage payment. Keep in mind metro took a chance by raising the price tag at $500 with taxes and all $535. they saw that metro customers were willing to pay extra for such a phone , will they continue to raise the bar maybe $600 phones? its plausible but they would need a hell of a deal from such phone companies to buy so many devices so they can make a profit. keep in mind metro cant sell phones for same wholesale prices they get it for.Only once they have earned their investment money back then some will they be able to sell phones for cheaper prices. hint metro samsung galaxy s3 was launched in october 22 2012 for the price tag of $499 why do u think now they are being sold for $399? cuz they made their investment back plus more so now every sale of the galaxy s3 is pure profit. Bottom line $700-$800 phones dont have much room for metro to make any profit so they are forced to wait till prices drop.

wanted to post in here as this should affect all metropcs owners who would be interested. my buddy and i did some research into it all. i recently found out you could buy unprogrammed/blank uicc cards from metro themselves. us cellular devices use teh same bands for LTE and we have reason to believe if you were to stick a metro uicc into a uscc sgs3 and have it programmed to be on metropcs it would work 100% (4g included).

now we cant say its for 100% but all the technical specs align up with our theory. if we are correct then regardless of if metropcs gets the sgs4/note 2/note 3 we could grab it from us cellular.

P.S. when i say programmed i mean lots of tricky backdoor stuff not allowed to be talked about on here, but im sure if you had a donor phone and a us cellular device you could find a guide :)

Cricket Wireless also we use all the same bands as them

indeed, but cricket tends to get crappier phones, the only perk to them is they sell their devices off contract so you can actually buy them from them, with us cellular id have to buy a phone from ebay. im not against that normally but with this kind of gamble...

im hopeing one day soon someone will find out for certain and it will open up a bunch of devices for anyone that wants em. as it is the cricket sgs3 is only $380, but im more interested in teh note 2 on metropcs.

this seems like something that wont be certain for quite some time. Like a really huge project or something.

sadly id have to agree. teh samsung aviator isnt anything special but its on ebay for only 50 bucks. unfortunately you also need a 4g metro phone to get the info off of, so you are looking at least 100 bucks and even then there is no guaranteeing that device would work. ideally we could find a US cellular user who didnt mind trying this out and wa sin a metro coverage area as well :O

is this in any way related to the unlocking of the metro S3 to other GSM networks here in the US?

no nothing to do with that.

anyways guys im the current leader in an auction on ebay for a us cellular device that will let me test this theory, if it works then we can get all of their devices working great! :D

I believe metro has seen that their customers are willing to pay extra for better phones but like i said up above are we willing to pay 60-70% of retail value? maybe a handful of us in will say hell yea but thats not speaking for the majority on metro that still use a samsung indulge or a samsung admire since they cant afford to buy a new phone. i think its time metro introduced some sort of credit program or something or perhaps give us two types of service either service with contract or service without contract. each plan has its pros and cons "phone cost up front" just an idea dont ya go off on me im sure theres plenty of things that ya can say against it lol but if we want them $800 phones on our network we have to sacrifice something, samsung and lg are not gonna toss us a bone! its just business! also probaly metro pcs could start selling uicc cards like simple mobile does and just sell service, probaly will happen if merger ever goes through and we go completly VoLte. Again just some harmless thoughts nothing solid.

We'll see about the S4 on the 14th since some exec. confirmed it, normally they release the list of carriers that's gonna be available on launch date.
“We introduced the Galaxy S3 in London last year, and this time we changed the venue (to NY)… as we*were bombarded*with requests from U.S. mobile carriers to unveil the Galaxy S IV in the country,” Samsung Electronics’ mobile division chief*JK*Shin*was quoted*as saying on the*Edaily*news website.
