Boost Stores closing?

Wait a minute...Sprint is competing with its own subsidiaries? That does not seem to make sound business sense...

I see they will limit the phones you can get with the "pay as you go" service but you will get LTE service on a couple. I wonder with the rumor that they want to buy Clear if they will keep Boost/Virgin WiMax and have the "pay as you go" service be the only pre pay they offer with LTE. It just doesn't seem to be a reason to go back to Sprint unless they are going to pull something shifty... Interesting...

Yep, that is true. I went into a sprint store a couple of days ago, looking to get my wife a new boost phone. I figured they would have a better selection than Walmart, looked around, didn't see any boost phones...So I asked if they carried them. They said, "We no longer carry them, as Sprint is coming out with their own Pre-paid service" I thought that's the point of Boost...But apparently sprint stores will not carry them (but doesn't verizon carry their prepaid subsidiary phones? when they have their own prepaid too?

So Boost will be no more? So who picks us up? Or will the current Boost customers get migrated to Sprint prepaid (with our shrinkage intact por favor).

I'm not really sure. When boost very first started out... No one knew they were a part of sprint. Then they made it known... And now they're apparently taking them out if the sprint stores again. So not really 100% sure what's up with it yet.

I doubt they would merge us into one. Why not just rename Boost then? Sprint will probably try to directly compete with its already established prepaid brands. I don't see a mention of Sprint's own prepaid having a cap or being throttled, and it's to be launched shortly after Boost's cap was to take effect. Sprint will probably do everything it can to make itself look better against Virgin and Boost. Either way Sprint wins.

I just checked the boost site for locations and another boost store close by is no longer listed. Both of these stores were listed as boost and virgin mobile only stores. corporate? I don't know but both only sold boost and virgin mobile. Now neither are listed in the location finder section on the boost site. there are still a lot of retailers around here selling both of course.

Boost used to allow dealers to sell other things at their stores besides Boost/Virgin. That is sadly not the case anymore. No more picking up a Boost phone while you're out getting milk. The new rules for opening a dealership is that they have to be exclusive...

I think they're cutting out the dealers since they've started offering their merchandise at large brick and mortar stores (Best Buy, etc). There is no way someone can stay in business selling Boost/Virgin alone unless they have volume. The kickback margins are super slim.

Someone told me that Sprint stores sold both boost and virgin mobile phones while someone else told me they stopped. I don't know which is right but I just used the store locator on both the boost site and the virgin site and two Sprint stores near me are both listed on both sites as sellers of boost and virgin phones. Wonder if Sprint will stop selling them since they have started their own prepaid plan.
