Evo 4g $899.99 - $5,999.99

That's a very high-quality image they have for the EVO.

I think it's a made-up price :)

I just called and I was told the vendors they've been dealing with gave them an estimate. This is a pre-order and would guarantee them a phone on release day. This in no way works for upgrades. I was also told that if the phone cost more they would eat the difference, if it cost less then we wouldn't get a refund and we would have to eat the difference.... I think I'm gonna pass on this one... Thanks for the Find!

they arn't trying to get money directly from the phone though, they are trying to get new subcribers on contract cause THAT is where they make the real money... the 50-100 they lose in selling at 199 is more than made up in the gain of a 2 year contract vs contract free or no customer at all...

I hope you're right. I'll definitely sign a new 2-year agreement to get this phone at $199.

this is logical thinking.. having 48 million people paying average of 70 a month for service = profit. I bet out of that 70 dollars only about 25-30 if even that much goes to the network upkeep and paying people.

Basically the same thing MS does with the XBOX...they take a loss on the actual hardware (from what I've read) but make it all up on Xbox Live subscriptions and game sales.

eh or did I think xbox now sells above cost a bit not much but no longer a loss per system gotta love manufacturing. The more you make the cheaper it is. Now with smart phones its a diffrent story.. wasnt their a report showing the iphone costing about 150 bucks to make and without contract they sell for 600?!?! WTF. Even if research and development and other stuff is added in for each iphone that would be maybe 20-30 dollars more still making a nice profit EVEN ON CONTRACT... smart phones are such an easy money market right now I see why everyone is jumping on it. All i know is when Kellogg cereal starts to make smart phones then I know i am done lol
