Help Not Happy With Battery Life

I'm on 4.22, after 1st or maybe second charge and trying to hold off from charging until I get to about 15% as advised to me from here somewhere.

Currently on 1d 44m with 39% remaining, but spent a lot of time playing yesterday to configure things.

Wifi seems to stay on when I'm in work and doesn't sleep and using Bluetooth in car, but in the middle of setting up with Tasker to disable Bluetooth when I'm not in the car

That sounds like great battery to me. WIFI doesn't go to sleep, but you can set tasker to turn it on and off when near different cell masts.

Yep need to do some tinkering. Had it to for a 'Home' profile which sees me near my Wifi SSID and exit task to switch Bluetooth On.

Unless I got a pretty damn good range on my wifi, I was about a mile or so down the road and it was still using the home profile :)

Although usage is dropping although phone is doing nothing but just wifi. Currently down to 31%, might have to give it a bit of PC juice before I leave, but keen to wait for the 15% mark

I have to agree. battery life is simply amazing with 4.2.2. no doubt. anyone who is going to complain about battery life who is not running 4.2.2 will be promptly pointed to download and apply the update. no doubt.

Happy w/ battery life since 4.2.2 it was pitiful with 4.2.1. I've been breaking in the nexus 4 for a couple of weeks and the battery life during the honeymoon phase was pitiful. Ever since 4.2.2 its been fantastic or at least comparable to my OneX.
Today I got 2.5 hours screen time and I have 25% remaining running 12 hours on battery.

General Tips
Turn of GPS when not needed
Use WiFi
Battery Monitor app to help calibrate battery
Give your new nexus 4 time to condition the first few weeks. Run from 100% full to shutdown and don't interrupt a charging cycle * do at least once a month after breaking it in*
Uninstall BG apps you don't need
Auto brightness
Set your screen timeout to a minute or less instead of default 2 minutes
Live next to a cell tower
Buy a note 2
Use your phone as a phone not a damn PC

I disagree with both of these points. GPS is only used when an app requests it, so when inactive it doesn't use any battery.

The term phone is generic and outdated. If you want just a phone then dont buy a smartphone (too late if you're reading this thread). Or if you want something pretty that you can pull out of your pocket/ sit on your desk, then buy a picture of Kelly Brook.

These are expensive things to carry about and not use. So all you need to do is tweak your settings so you can get the battery life that suits your needs.

The bar shows the quality of your signal. Red being the worst and green is best.

I'm not sure how to get the best out of your current set up, but if you were rooted you could change your radio, which might give you better signal.

Rooting needs careful consideration and could damage your phone if not done properly. I rooted phones before and had better results from flashing radios, but also some worse results. Your results will be different from other users, as it's about geography :)

For me and this phone, I see no reason to root.

I have had the nexus 4 for about a week or so and am blown away by it but am feeling like the battery is not right. I charged it to 100% last night took it straight off charge when full. I even turned it off and on again for good measure to check then left it for 7 hours over night. Reading on here it seems that losing 13% is more than usual but I'm not entirely sure how to remedy it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am not rooted, and don't really want to be.

I'm not sure how to put my screen shot up here but here are the battery % which seem odd for maps to be so high without any use right?

87% not charging
7hrs 2mins 37 secs - not charging

Phone idle 26%
Maps 20%
Mobile standby 17%
Android os 15%
Screen 4%
The rest <3%

In fact, just the ten minutes of use following this, including writing this it has lost 5%

Hey guys I've have been having similar results with the high percentage of maps. And what is weird is I don't have a data plan so I don't have it searching for me, and I only used wifi for like 20 min today as I've been home all day at my computer. Is it possibly part of 4.2.2? I mean I don't feel I am having bad battery life I just don't understand why maps is consuming so much of my battery percentage. Could it be from the settings that I have?

OK this is silly now. I didn't think it would be GPS as im sure leaving it on should be fine but in trying to work out what is causing maps to be so active, I turned gps off last night. Fully charged at 1am. Taken of charge and left. 5 hrs later it has lost 9% and maps is at 60%. GPS is switched off. Please any ideas?

I can't work out another way of putting the screen shot up other than this link to dropbox

Try going into the settings of google maps and unchecking everything. It might still be trying to use your location through wifi and your phone location.

60% use from 9% battery isn't that high in my opinion. If it was 60% of 50% battery, then thats another story. I have everything turned on, gps, locale etc and after a 4% battery drop google maps has used 10% of that. Which again I see as quite good.

I will try this, However I use google maps and it would be a pain to have to keep doing this everytime I wanted to use maps. The point about the % above was that this was during the night when the phone wasnt being used at all. I dont think the battery should drop 9% in 5 hours during the night. Should it? maybe im wrong. As it was maps using over half of this, it seems odd that maps would be so active when the phone wasn't being used.
