Help Calibrate Keyboard

Just got a new LG Optimus L9 and I've tried multiple different keyboards for various reasons as there's at least one annoying thing (personally) for each one, like not having the question mark / comma already accessible or how it always pushes colons to the text when trying to make a smiley face [example, typing like this: ) instead of like this :) ] - but the biggest thing that keeps frustrating me is that I can't seem to calibrate any of these keyboards to better suit my finger positioning.

Is there any way to do this with the JellyBean or normal LG keyboard that I'm just currently blind to, or am I basically screwed here to have lots of spelling errors? Lol

I'm not too fond of the Swiftkey style keyboards as I prefer using both thumbs. I'm not even opposed to using the normal LG keyboard, but with all of them, it just feels like the detection is off (having to reach down awkwardly far for the space and such). I know my old phone used to have a calibration to it that made all the difference, but I don't see anything similar on this phone.

I've tried TouchPal the past few days and it has a much better calibration to suit me, but I continually keep having problems with it repeating words. After I send a message, the last word is copied and still in the text field. Does anyone else have this problem?

I haven't tried Smart Keyboard yet, but I'm trying the Go Keyboard right now. Has anyone had any problems with that?

Yeah that's one thing that can be annoying about TouchPal. If you either put a period, or push the space bar, it won't do that. If you'll notice, the word is underlined, meaning it's still in word prediction mode, trying to guess what word you're typing. If you either push space, or any punctuation such as period, comma, exclamation, etc. or just choose one of the word suggestions above the keyboard, then it knows you're done with that word.

Makes sense. But it DOESN'T make sense that that word duplicates and stays in the text field. It literally duplicates. If you are typing a web address in your browser, and the "com" is still underlined and you push go, it will duplicate it. So for example it will say androidforums.comcom

This has happened to me. They really need to address this in an update.
