Thinking about Purchasing S2 Today

I want to purchase either from Boost Mobile website for 279 or in store for 329. I was wondering if I should purchase this phone or would someone recommend another phone (better) for same price I am going to be paying for this one?

Also another concern would be me spending $300 on this phone and than Boost adds another new product to their line up. ....< that would annoy me just a pinch lol

I want to get it from either radio shack or best buy. I know I can get it cheaper from Boost right now but I want it in my hands maybe I can haggle them down a little bit...I hope

Do I have to root the phone when I get it? I have heard horror stories about bricking your phone lol. I don't want to spend $300 than having to spend another $300 to get another one.

Also do you think we will get the Jelly Bean Update for it?

Any advice, comments and etc is much appreciated.

There is always something new coming out. If you always wait for something new, you end up not getting anything and miss out on the fun. This is a great phone. I suggest getting it from Boost. They have great overnight shipping. I had mine literally the next day. You don't have to root the phone if you don't want to, but it is easy to do if you want to. Eventually Jelly Bean will be released, but as to when I can't say. The leaked JB ones are very nice though, and I imagine they will push out an official update in the not too distant future.

Yes, we are getting JB. A lot of us are running unreleased beta versions of JB, if they are developing eventually they will release JB.

Purchasing the S2 is a coin flip, I love mine. Eventually a better phone will be released, then after that another new phone will come out. What you have to look at is a phone you will b happy with and the savings month-to-month Boost offers. I consider a phone like the S2 to have at least an 18-month life span to be 'worth the cost'.

If you like the S2 pull the trigger and enjoy it.

Don't mess around buying cases and screen covers like I did for a month spending $$$$. Just go to ebay (25.00 vs 50.00 at store) and buy the otterbox defender case and be done with it, also purchase a car charger bc it won't come with one and u will need it for sure.

My battery lasts a decent amount of time. I am at 32% after 1 day 17hours with moderate use.

I have the white one, and I like it more than I thought I would, but I think the Titanium one looks pretty cool. I will say the white one doesn't heat up in the sun laying on the car seat like my old black Prevail did. Just look at them and pick which one you like better.

Yeah it is true. Currently I am at 14 hours and at 77% on battery

Well once I got past the "new toy" period, I could make setting changes based on what matters to me, which is having the power to do things when I am using it and it is not just sitting there. Unless you are streaming video, keep 4g off. I even listen to tune in radio on 3g just fine. Second, I don't need to check for email every 15 minutes. If you turn off mobile data (3g), you will still get phone calls and standard texts, and just turn it back on when you use it. I like to use WiFi at home, but I have the advanced settings for it to allow it to sleep when the phone does. I do run the power saving mode for display, but do not keep it at the lowest brightness. As always, your mileage may vary...

Also, try not to be a widgetaholic. Do you really need a widget on every screen? The phone will launch an app from a press of it's icon plenty fast. I only have the weather widget running, and have even gotten rid of the ones like Yahoo stocks etc. Put an icon on your home screen for apps you use most.

Also about the price. I got mine at best b and they matched the price at boost site, I just like there insurance better, If I don't like the phone or it lags they will take it back and even let me upgrade to different phone and no deductibles

Hey Codegerm i was notincing that My S2 came with some LTE option on it already does that mean that the S2 Epic 4g touch will be LTE compatible because when you go to ##data# View/advanced it shows LTE status and in that it says NOT Set, so I think that this phone can be LTE compatible I Hope

No for 2 reasons:

1. The Sprint Epic 4G Touch (Boost S2) has NO LTE radio, only WiMax.

2. Flashed phones are notorious for losing 4G after flashing.

Thats weird becasue according to some Sprint Reps and supervisors they are claiming that the E4GT will be LTE ready and A Best Buy Rep said it to. I am at the point lol I believe everything when I see it, And the Reason why I say that is Sprint and samsung I believe are in bed with eachother thats why the JB Update has not been pushed OTA for the E4GT, thats because they want more S3 and Note 2 Customers thats why I am on the latest GB08 Build i am not wating for the Boost Mobile JB Update, So i will believe it when i see it!!!!!!!! lol

It is an interesting question. Normally the answer would be no, but I am going with the wait and see. It all depends on the capabilities of the chip our phones have, if they are firmware reprogrammable then it would be possible as long as the frequency can be received. At that point, it is only a mater of decoding the signal received. So, I can not say. I have herd rumors, but they are just that.

so true..... but I love it. Once you root it and flash the PAC in BLACK it's the best phone Out POINT BLANK

I bought the white one and it works perfect if you are a fan of big, fast phones. The battery life is decent, it seems to make you feel like you're on you're computer because there is nothing it can't do. There was rumors going around for a year or so stating that Boost Mobile is going to add an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 4S, I would just stick to Android OS because Apple OS is nothing special. Some of the differences from Android and Apple are.

Android has cheaper apps in general, you can get angry birds free, and much more.

Android allows wigets.

Android is more customizable then Apple OS.

Most of the newer Android phones are faster then an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S in GENERAL.

These are based on experience, I know someone who has an iPhone and would tottaly like to switch to Boost Mobile but they cant because of their contract.
