I completely agree with you. There really is no reason to run stock. If you want the vibrate to work you can run the no twiz rom from BH_MAN which runs amazingly well and really makes a huge difference on the feel of the phone. If you are like most who enjoy the upgrades of 1.6 and can live without the vibrate (a worthy sacrifice I must add) then you can use that rom.

Installing and running these mods are quick and painless through ODIN!

And if you ever want to warranty the phone you can always ODIN back to stock!

So join the masses and make your phone have the potential it should have had from the beginning.

Chances of bricking the phone are very little... the only way you would brick would be putting the wrong files into ODIN... which is unlikely if you follow the directions on the threads.

The threads have the directions. It's quite simple.

Open ODIN --> Place files in proper locations in ODIN --> Turn Off Phone--> Plugin Phone to USB --> Phone into Download Mode (vol down + OK + END) --> Install Drivers --> Press Start on ODIN --> Enjoy!

I'm in the same boat. Not enough gain from the ROMs yet, and I can't live without vib. I have rooted to delete lots of the apps I don't use, and still have plenty of room left, so A2SD wouldn't help me. I only wish for a longer battery life, but I'm not going to turn every feature off to achieve it.

Some people actually like the T-Wiz features (Camera, extra functions on notification bar, etc etc).

Personally, I hate the Cube with a passion, and like the extra features of 1.6. Would love Vibrate and the Camera options back ;-> ( And no, I don't like the camera apps I've found so far ;->)

Um? Not sure what you Mean that the Camera Don't work! I recall the Camera Working on all the Ports, lol....

Camera works fine, I'm on 1.6 R8. It is a cell phone camera after all. Great with ambient light, not so in low light. Same as stock. Some features of the camera app are missing but what you lose in features you make up for in speed and responsiveness.

But still, it takes sweet pictures . . . so what features are lost in the mod ?

Be honest though, who really uses all the camera features anyway? Except for brightness maybe, I doubt anyone really fools around with the sepia or tone setting.

The camera is still 10 x better than most other Android devices. It would mop the floor with my mytouch camera.

I just received my new BH2 this evening; it's charging now - so technically, I'm stock .

I'm trying to decide if/when to ROM. This is my first smartphone, so compared to what I have, I'm guessing even 1.5 will be sweet. That being said, I've been on these boards for a few days and honestly am already looking forward to trying on of BH_MAN's ROMs. I'm still trying to get my head around some of this though, there are a number of threads with a number of different instructions.

For example, this thread (http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-behold-2/54769-port-galaxy-1-6-behold-2-a.html) has a nice How-To Install With ODIN! section, that seems pretty straight forward. Is this what most people are following? (this assumes you have the right adb drivers working as well, I presume).

Looking forward to learning and sharing...

not enough to gain? and turn every feature off? im sorry sir but that is not true.. there arent many features that dont work.. yeah we dont have vibe right now, which i can understand being a deal breaker for alot of people! The camera is still amazing.. minus the fancy-ness..on the plus side you can create folders and group your pictures! You want longer battery life? the rom solves that! i had a full charge last me almost 2.5 days with moderate to heavy usage! (setting up things how i wanted it after flashed) i also dont use a2sd and ive yet to run out of room! i will admit that there are being bugs reported.. strange thing is.. ive yet to run into any kind of problem with my day to day life.. however im sure people use there phone more extensivly then myself

Since the camera is using digital zoom, you're better off taking a picture without zooming and using a photoshop type program on your desktop to 'zoom' in. All that digital zoom does is reduce the size of the frame and enlarge the pixels. I know its a hard concept to actually use, but you will be much happier in the long term.

I've been on rooted for a day and I wish to go back or to have a better rom. Rooted takes away the vibration which ruins everything because theres no other smartphone with the nice vibration the behold 2 has.

The camera features are gone.
Everything seems very plain.
The corners on R8 is like rounded which Im not a fan of.
I can't get no youtubes to work.
Not a fan of the chrome bars.
Im getting more force closes then normal.

I will say I do "LOVE" the music player, and the new market though. No disrespect to BH_MAN, he did excellent work, but it is what it is. Im pretty sure a better rom will be available soon.

I'm running on rooted stock 1.5. For me , there is not a big gain imho by going to 1.6 except the google voice nav or shortcuts to dial contacts. I think the lag with the touchwiz is why most folks are rooting but i just installed a home replacement [pandahome] and my phone is 2 times faster. Also, samsung has included a good sim card management which is lacking in stock android [although there are some free solutions in the market] and i like the stock notification and shortcut to gps, wifi, etc on top. Bh_man has worked hard and I appreciate his and all the other modders efforts though. Having options on the table with different roms is always much better than not having anything except stock.

i cant believe anyone would purposely run stock on this device. the g1 was my first smart phone and i loved it. i was waiting for the behold2 for at least 2 months before it came out. i rushed to get it expecting the best. after 3 months of nothing to improve it coming from tmobile or sammy, i started doing research and found this. i am currently on BH_MAN's R8 and it has made me have faith in this phone again. anybody who knows anything about what android phones are capable of would not be running stock. my g1 was better when it first came out than stock behold2 is. Thank you BH_MAN for giving me faith again in this phone
