As I voted, I really don't care about the merger.. if it happens then good, if not still not a problem.

Have you seen metro's stats/reports lately, they lost over half a million customers last year and without the merger customer losses are supposed to continue. Might even be more rapidly since all those other prepaid/MVNO's are getting access to LTE on the big carriers.
All while metro's stuck here in their terrible spectrum position with an avg. LTE speed of 1.2mbps according to OpenSignal. Those speeds wont be getting better anytime soon since moving everyone to LTE is coming along pretty slowly with only every 1 out of 3 people on the network with an LTE device so thats limiting their refarming efforts. Hopefully you now see the need for some kind of merger/partnership.

I don't disagree with anything Gman said but I also think Metro got burned on those Open Source scores. I won't say it was purposeful but everyone knows Metros coverage isn't that of "the big boys". If you test at the geographical edge of their FoGee! areas you are going to get crappy scores.

Ocala where I'm at isn't any Large market. Metro has had FoGee! here maybe a year (actually about as long as Verizon has had it here too) and they are Still adding towers. While there is granted a too wide of a spread (inconsistency) in my speed scores, even my steady Lowest scores are DOUBLE what the Open Source scores for Metro are.

I hate to agree with this as it's what I've been saying since the start. Every time I say something like this, fan boys come out of the wood work to defend metro as if I'm hating on them which I never have. I just say what's obvious and what's factual. I wont say any names but they know who they are, they always say "Data speeds don't matter it's just a number" and "It's about location..." and blah blah blah. Data speeds don't matter? Really?

I think that regardless of this merger, Metro is going downhill. I hate to say that because I enjoyed their service for a very long time but SOOOOO much has changed in the past 2 years. There is a lot of MVNO's and pre paid plans that offer MUCH MUCH MUCH more than Metro and for the same price or cheaper. Metro already showed that they had to adapt to the changes by putting data caps on their plans. Data caps is just the beginning my friends.

IMO, T mobile will be the #2 carrier within 5 years. They are making all the right moves by switching to basically strictly pre paid. They have pre paid plans, bring your own phone plans, and very cheap post paid plans. Their data speeds SMOKE most LTE speeds and their HSPA +42 speeds are just plain sick they are so fast.

So if Metro and T mobile actually merge, I think Metro will slowly die. Why? Because people will look at it as why would I pay for Metro's service and slower data speeds when I can just hop the fence to T mobile and get much more for my money? T mobile will slowly gobble up Metro.

Let's no forget Straight Talk and MVNO's. They are getting bigger and bigger. If Straight Talk keeps promoting their service like they are then the sky is the limit for them. I've had trouble free service from them for the past several months and I couldn't be happier. The only regret I have is I didn't switch sooner from Metro.

I have never disagree with most of your opinions it comes down to of course location for me metro works the best if another pre paid offers lte and the right price then I can always look into those like you say as long as there is pre paid we will be fine :D

Oh yeah of course. Location is key no matter who you go with. Like Ive always said the more pre paid the better no matter who it is. It's not right that these big companies are making stupid money off of people when theres better out there. 100 bucks a month for a phone bill is just stupid. I can pay my car insurance twice with the cost of some peoples phone bill.

But back to the point at hand, I hope Metro starts back moving up and getting more customers. I don't wanna see them go down because they are such a recognized name in pre paid. But times are changing right before our eyes. It's crazy to see how carriers, plans and pricing has changed in the past couple of years. There's a common denominator when you look at it all. Customers are getting more for their money and the plan prices are coming down. If Metro can't get to where they can offer the same as other carriers in their price range then it might not be good for them in the near future. I don't know though. I personally see T mobile just getting better and better. They are making all the right moves and are fulfilling their customers demands and making them happy. Hopefully if the merger goes through, Metro can learn the ways of T mobile right now.

Regardless, pre paid rules and we are all on the same team. :D

What I dont get though is why people want the merger to go through so bad and possibly have the options for more devices and better service when they can just go to T mobile right now. If it's available in their area of course. It was LTE, for whatever god forsaken reason, but T mobile is lighting up their LTE market as we speak and it's already showing faster speeds on the average than Metro. Pricing is better and you get more for the money. But I can understand people like you who might only have the option for Metro in their area but I dont get the other side.

It's like getting really excited and about a new Wal Mart supercenter in your area. You shop at the old wal mart but you really want the grocery section. You refuse to buy groceries anywhere until you get the supercenter but you can just go Kroger and get everything you need at the same price or even cheaper. lol. I am shot out for using an analogy like that. But I don't get it. Unless it's your only option of course.

Actually Fuzzy on my 4 person metro family plan with 3 people having insurance I pay $201. If we were to all switch to tmobile prepaid with a comparable plan it would be about $280+tax, adds up to over a pretty 1K more a year.

Yeah family plans is a whole different story from which I know nothing about. I'm just looking from a single user from which the majority of the cell phone nation is.

But it all goes back to the person's needs and the best and most cost efficient way to fulfill those needs. Such as a family plan, location and lack of carrier availability for a specific area.

I'm back!!!! Lmfao but I just want the merger to be approved as it could be the boost that both carriers need. That is all.

The boost "Metro" could possibly need. I don't think T mobile needs the merger as they have been making huge progress the past 3 months without the merger. Now, it damn sure aint gonna hurt T mobile but I'm not too sure about Metro. Time will tell. Hell, it's gotta pass first. lol

Let's hope all turns out well for Metro and T mobile. To hell with Verizon and ATT. :p

Tmobile needs spectrum badly in some areas. Which is where metro comes in, metro runs on blocks of spectrum that are right next to tmobiles holdings so that is much easier to build out & much easier on battery life. Without metro tmobile can only run a LTE network that has the same speed as metro in some areas because HSPA+ uses so much, so together the can run a network that is initially as fast as the others then in the end when they put up the 20x20MHz network it'll be like double the speeds of the others.

I really hope it does, I dont know what it means for the share holders but for me, typical I imagine consumer my wife has the esteem with the grandfathered unlimited 4g data for $40 and I have t mobile $30 100 min unlimited data her metro will improve speeds and get more coverage area and my t mobile will see improved speeds and more possible more lte coverage, though in that regards tmo's customers are getting the short end as they wont open metro's lte to tmo customers until the end of the refarming project while metro's customers will get tmo's spectrum right away, or so I have heard.

Thanks for reminding me. :) Then I no could find the dang place to register/link for it. But I did and I am.

**THE WEBCAST IS TOMORROW AT 1030 AM EST**

You can view on-line with preregistration or call in and listen on the phone with no reg (apparently). The registration is basically name, email, phone. There are some system requirements you can test out on your pooder. I had to add 2 more hamsters to the power wheel. :smokingsomb:

Interestingly enough, you don't appear to have to substantiate that you are Indeed a shareholder to register or even apparently ask a question. (Though of course, they are only going to select the questions THEY Want to answer. )

Well.

That's it.

IMO, the first offer is going to be turned down by the stockholders.

What I understood of the presentation today, Metro is getting a couple three dollars less a share in the merger than they should And the notes of debt for the merger are at way too high of a interest rate. Catastrophicly high actually.

Not dwelled on but one point sticks in my craw.

If this is so good for Metro, why did the Metro CEO already sell off a pile of his stock? If the merger is good for everyone, it figures he'd hold on to it.

FWIW, I don't think T-Mo will bail, but redo the offer.

THAT'S why (IMO) Metro sent their own S4 to the FCC, the merger May happen but it's not going to be soon at all.

That's the way I sees it anyway.
