How much smoother is doubling the Hero's physical specs going to make the EVO?

EVO doubles Hero's processor, internal memory and RAM. I'm wondering how exactly that will translate into daily usage. Mayhaps I should post on the Nexus board since that runs a snapdragon but I'm sure there are people here who have handled both.

I'm going to use a few apps I use as an example:

Astro File Manager: running the app manager can take 20-30 seconds to fully 'load the packages' to backup/install/uninstall/etc.

More Icons Widget: populating the apps list takes 20-30 seconds.

aTrackDog: populating the apps list can take 45-60 seconds.

Google Maps: rendering map and showing location

Handcent SMS: loading the app can take up to 5 seconds

Camera: Always takes at least 5 seconds

FolderOrganizer: opening up the a shortcut made to a folder takes 3-5 seconds

It might be easy to say since EVO doubles the Hero, that the time it takes each to process should be halved but wondering if theres anyone thats used a snapdragon phone with these apps that can shed some light.

Are you running 2.1 on your hero? I've read that that significantly boosts the performance of some devices.

Without the Evo being actually released its impossible to do any benchmarks to know how much faster it really is, but from my experience you can't say "Double the processing speed, double the speed" or whatever. Its much more complicated than that.

figured as much. hopefully someone with the tech knowhow can jump in here and help out!

I'm running 1.5 on my hero, rooted with fresh1.1/gumbo. Waiting on fresh to get the 2.1 before i jump up. I hope thats true about the update itself improving performance

If your hero runs smooth and isn't jammed with apps and services you won't noticed a difference at all, that being said if you have a jam packed phone full of always running services and apps that are really slowing down your phone and take a backup of that and put it on a Evo I'd bet it would like like the Hero when you first bought it.
