Help Text Messages being cut off?

When I receive a text from someone that is longer than 160 characters, it cuts off at the 160th character.
It sometimes receives the rest of the text but not always, and this is extremely annoying. This problem was also present on my Bionic. I figured the problem was localized there but unfortunately it's not.
Verizon had no clue what the problem was.

Note- My outgoing texts don't do this to other people.

I'm just using the stock S3 texting app.
My settings allow for 5000 texts and 5000 MMS before deleting. It's also set to auto-receive MMS.

This just happened to me now. Someone texted me w/ more than 160 characters, and it showed some of what the person wrote. It started weird a weird looking lower case "D" and ended with the same "D". I'm using GO SMS tho.

I found this issue present on my S3, as well. I thought maybe it was a carrier issue, but I could be wrong. Whenever someone sends me a message greater than 160 characters, I tend to receive the tail end of the message first, separated by the cutoff and then moments later receive the first half. If the message is split more than once, I can sometimes receive the middle portion first and the rest later or vise-versa.

Another annoying texting-related issue I noticed is whenever I attempt to send a message between 145 and 155 characters long, the message will not send regardless of my connectivity. I've tried other texting apps, restarting the phone, and even was able to repeat the issue on another S3.

Go SMS only allows 160 characters in a message. It shows you where the Send icon is how many characters you have left. You can go into Settings under Send settings and change it to split the conversation if the messages exceed 160 characters.

Yea, I have that checked, but I think thats only to send a text more than 160 characters. Not to receive.

Are you sure that you're not using Go Chat instead of the SMS part? I can send a message as long as I want to if my husband and I are using Go Chat.

Nah i dont use the chat function and can send to and recieve from people not using Go Sms. Maybe its a carrier/country thing..
Im actualy looking at other sms apps just now coz im sick n tired of the spam from Go Sms lol. Ill see what happens with another app

Anything over the 160 character limit is suppose to be converted to MMS. Now people receiving cut off messages could be the fault of the sender limiting there app to not convert to MMS. Just a guess on the other sender.

I tried a test message from my email and I found the same problem.
The person who I'm specifically talking about has a non smart phone so they can't control it. I understand if it splits the message up and I receive it in multiple parts, like it used to do on my galaxy s. But I'm only receiving the first page.

Update:
I had my sister, who is on Verizon and on an iPhone, send me a really long message (~650 characters) and it received in full as an SMS. I had my friend, who is on AT&T and on an iPhone, send me a really long message and it received in full as an MMS.

My email and friend's texts remain the same, cut off at 160 characters.

My friends have the same condition with only up to 160 chars, and it seems that he havn't find the solution, really need someone professional to help this.

On Go Sms, for me, the counter starts at (160)/1 then the 160 counts down with each character until 0 then it goes to (160)/2 and counts down and so on. Infinitely as far as i know. And the parts send as one long message.
Must be a carrier thing.
I dont know anyone with a dumb phone anymore. Not even my parents lol so i dunno how a non smart phone would deal with a long message.
They definately send as SMS because i dont have an MMS allowance and the other people arent using Go Sms
