VZW Preorder Question

I asked this in the main thread, but it got lost in the website leak earlier today, so I will ask it here!

I asked if I preorder does that guarantee that I get it on release day? Or does that simply mean I paid for it early? A member replied that I got it on release day. The second part of my question would be this:

Do you specify a store to go to or is it shipped to you and arrives on the release date?

I have never preordered before so I am not sure what to expect, and if I should preorder or go to the stores in hopes the lines are too long. It would be nice if I preorderd it and could pick it up from the store on release day, but I am not sure how that works with VZW.

TIA

I didn't realize you could pre-order phones. I supposed it would be shipped to you; faster shipping at your expense.

I asked verizon if you can preorder the device and they said no and to be here in line the day of release.

That's strange. Often you can preorder their devices. They overnight it for free, standard M-F. I'm wondering if we'd get it release day as well because I's much rather do that w/ no lines or mail in rebates. Did you call the VZW main number or your local store? From what I understand, the reps work on commission...

I'm pretty sure you do have to pay for return shipping. If you get it from VZN, I think you should be able to return it back to a VZN Corporate store.

I'm new here but don't hold that against me,

Verizon when they ship a phone always include a return shipping label in the FedEX express box

you do NOT pay for return shipping, and there return policy is 30 days from date of activation, hopefully this clears that up a little

I want to tag on to your question and ask another....

What if I have a droid within the 30 day period that I want to return for this phone. How do I use preorder to do that? Do I go into the store on the 19th and tell them that and give the droid back?

Thanks in advance!!!
If I remember correctly from when I got my Motorola Droid, the pre-orders were for new Verizon customers only. Since you already have an account, you'll probably have to go to the store and try your luck.
With the Droid, they had them a couple days early, so the rep I was talking to got all my info and set one aside for me. Then on release day, I just walked in and paid for it, no waiting in line. Granted, she probably shouldn't have done that, but it all worked out in the end.

Verizon released a new site earlier today, within the last hour at most, with preordering available on the 19th. As for how Verizon handles it, it might just be mailed to you. But from what I can tell Verizon does free overnight shipping on all orders. Since they have officially announced preorder information, I would just try calling your local Verizon store or authorized dealer. They should be able/allowed to provide you with more information now that it's official.

Thanks for all of the replies! I actually got my answer on the email that VZW sent after signing up for the preorder! It's at the bottom of the email...

HTC Incredible (TM) is a trademark of HTC. DROID is a registered trademark of Lucasfilm Ltd. and its related companies Used under license.
Pre-orders placed online before 4pm local time on 4/28 will be delivered 4/29

I have a question, my NE2 kicks in on the 29th. Will they let me use that if I preorder it on the 19th?

Nevermind this question. I asked Verizon through the website and they just sent me a response:

I was able to push your upgrade date up in an effort to allow you to pre-order the HTC Droid Incredible and have your New Every Two credit applied to your order. Your new upgrade date is April 19, 2010. Please allow up to 24 hours for your new upgrade date to be reflected online.

AWESOME!!!

I think I am stupid. I got all excited to do a pre-order of this bad boy, and I was just told by a CSR that I won't be able to preorder it for the two year pricing because I am on the annual upgrade. Since it's online pre-order only, I would have to pay full retail price for this.

I will have to wait and try my chances at the stores on Launch day. Or, I have to wait to call in on launch day to get the yearly pricing and have it shipped and get it the next day.

Damn... :(

I know what I'll be doing on the 19th.
make sure you guys consider WHERE you'll be on the 29th so that you can sign for the package.

ie; I'll be at the office from 9-5 so there wont' be anyone at my house to sign for the package so I'm going to have it shipped here.
No sense in pre-ordering only to have to chase the UPS guy around for 2 additional days because you weren't home. ;)

Luckily for me I work Sunday through Wednesday. The 29th is a Thursday, giving me my whole weekend to play it. :D

My HTC Droid Incredible is on order.

I needed to add a line because I had to give up my company cell. I preordered the Incredible (today is 4/15/10). It could be because I added a new line and upped my minutes, whatever.

The sooner you order, the sooner you will get it. No lines on the 19th or the 29th. I bet I will get the phone on or before the 29th.

Now if I could get accessories ordered before the phone is released...

Anyone know the answer to this? I'm on a month-to-month contract with my BB Curve right now and would like to pick the Incredible up on a 1 year contract. Everything I see shows a $70 increase when going from 2 to 1 year contracts which is fine with me. But will I still be eligible for the $100 mail in rebate? I'd really hate to miss out on that.

I highly doubt you get it before the 29th (release day).
