Though I'm not overly concerned with the batt life (my first smart phone was a Pre and THAT thing had to be charged twice a day no matter what), I'm very impressed with what I've read from actual users thus far.

Please keep us poor folk who have to wait longer, updated and informed. It will ease the pain of the delay!

My latest, 2 movies watched (not streamed), Bluetooth use was sending another movie to the phone at the same time, bit of stickman gaming, bit of browsing, push email, few texts.

Heres the problem though...In the U.S. we will be getting the LTE varient! From some reviews (namely PhoneDog) who absolutely love the one, it's been said that it's lacking in the battery dept...Remember these guys are using an unlocked euro varient of the one with an at&t sim card running on HSPA.

I'm interested to see what battery life is right here in the states with an LTE One. I really hope it's no HTC one x or HTC Thunderbolt

Going on where my % was after watching 2 movies i'm pretty sure if i kept watching movies i would have reached around 10 hrs screen on before running out of power. May have been 10hrs screen on = 100% power used but i think that would be pretty good.

Obviously i can't compare to usage in the States, does being on LTE use more power?......we all have LTE "Ones" over here, but not all of us are on LTE tariffs.

Typically, LTE has been a bit of battery hog around here.

Understand that LTE may increase drain, but I live in the boonies and don't have coverage at home, so I'm hoping I can turn it off. I travel fairly often, but by car, so LTE will almost be as much a novelty as 3D was with my 3VO. I also get that in that aspect, I'm not a typical user (I'm not very typical anyway), so my input on this matter may be totally superfluous. :-D

If Crafty is on Vodafone then he won't have LTE.

At the moment there is only one LTE network in the UK, EE (Orange/T-Mobile), with limited coverage and absurd tariffs. General roll-out us scheduled for later this year. So while UK handsets are LTE capable very few will have LTE contracts just now.

As said, i'm on Voda, so no, i believe the time frame is sometime in the summer (the way spring is going we ain't gonna get no summer!)

Here's my phone battery after one full day. I wish I could work out what is keeping my phone awake for seven hours though! Going into the App Usage section at the bottom gives me three hours awake for NetworkLocationLocator so maybe on the next battery cycle I will switch it off. Google Now was never activated and is definitely off. Blinkfeed is empty. Most of my wakelocks seem to be from Google Services though.

I have four email addresses pushing to the phone but Sunday is usually quiet so I didn't receive many emails at all. Very odd.

Still, the battery is on a par with my other phones but I get the feeling that if I could figure out those thing holding my phone awake, I could wring even more time out of this phone.

I clicked the App Usage right arrow and I believe it takes me to the same screen (I could be wrong though). Number of times waking the device was over 14,000 I think.

I've let the phone run out completely and it's switched off on the charger at the moment. I'll come back to it in a couple of hours and switch it on then.

I'm not overly fussed. It looks like the phone will last a day and that was only the first complete charge.; I expect to get better results from subsequent charges I'd rather get my held awake time down though so I get even more life out of the battery.

The Held Awake takes only 0.2% of the battery usage, so don't waste your time on it.

That being the case, I have left Location services on and will see how the second charge performs.

Interestingly, my battery didn't reach 100% when charged, it stopped at 99% and refused to go higher. Usual?

Yeah, especially when new. It happens from time to time on my other phones. Not a brand or model phenomenon.

By the way, if you don't use NFC, try turning that radio off.

Just shoot me. Turning the NFC radio on/off is a setting that they changed with Jellybean, you may not be able to. I am on custom rom, keep forgetting about that. Sorry to pop off without thinking.

Third day of ownership and only on second full charge. I took it off charge yesterday, about 19.5 hours ago, and the phone still has 70% battery left! This is astonishing to me; even better than my iPhone with virtually the same usage (running both side by side for comparisons, iPhone sitting at 59%). I only have just over an hour of screen on admittedly, but still the standby time is exceptional. Yesterday/today are light use days but I did spend a lot of yesterday somewhere without wifi and received and replied to about twenty emails and about fifteen SMS messages. No phone calls.

Yep! Definitely looks promising. Certainly better than a Pre! Which, BTW, my wife is now rocking since she decided to work on our pool with her 3VO in her pocket! Her 3VO is now dis-assembled and taking a rice bath. On a positive note, her new digitizer came in yesterday and if I can't get her 3VO working, I'LL have a new digitizer! (Sorry for the OT).

I forgot how it feels to really Rock an LTE phone full time so yesterday I solely used my iphone 5 for the whole entire day without using my nexus 4 at all. Which will have to do anyway because I'm selling my nexus 4 to make room for the One or the X phone as my daily driver...most likely the one until the X phone comes out. We'll see! Anyway back to batteries...right now I have 32% on my iphone 5 with the last charge 21hrs ago. That's with some pretty steady usage yesterday and this morning, if the One can get anywhere near that I would do cartwheels as that would be awesome!

If you're a power-heavy user, you will be disappointed. For the average normal user, it's great! Does me just fine

You *will* be disappointed if you are a heavy user? Seems that on their continuous usage tests it matched anything else (apart from the Maxx, of course). They claim it's the standby was "weak", if you can call 48 hours including 2 hours of calls and 4 hours screen on "weak", so surely the heavy user is least worried?

But the devil is in the details. I know that GSMArena test screen-on usage at a fixed % brightness, so phones with brighter screens are at a disadvantage (to contrast, anandtech set to 200 nits for their tests, so same light output for all devices). I don't know what they let synch in the background for their standby tests - the safest would be to either have standard apps, accounts and settings or turn everything off, but I don't know whether they try to standardise or if so how hard they try.

So I'd say read a range of tests, try to work out what they test, and look at the range of results. And perhaps more usefully, see what the real experiences of people who own the devices are.
