OK, upgrade is finally available tomorrow April 1st, need some convincing to upgrade now to the Note II from my HTC, or should I wait for the Note III

The Note III seems to be a little bigger then I really want, but I could be convinced.

Whenever I check the Note II in the store I want it now, when I get home I am fine with my 3VO, have had HTC for 5 years now between the Hero and 3VO, so uncertainty is tough ;)

Anyways, looking for a push from you current Note II users to make the switch now and why, Cheers

lets see...

-fastest phone out, bar none
-best screen sizewise and viewing
-spen is tons of fun
-most developement of any phone now
-note 3 has no official release date, so you might be waiting till the cows come home for it
-multi app/multi task/ never slows down no matter how many apps running
-tons of room for everything, and can use a 64 gig ext card
-did I mention how much faster than any other phone this thing is?

stop procrastinating, and just get one, unless you dont want to have the #1 phone out now...

I am going to say to wait. Why? Note 2 is an amazing phone...i love it. It does everything that i want. BUT, the Note 3 will likely be just as good if not significantly better. Note 3 will have Exynos 5 Octa, which has a powerful GPU (PowerVR). This is probably the biggest weakness of Note 2 with the Mali400 GPU. Games go smoothly enough, but iPhone 5 is noticeably smoother. (iPhone 5 uses the slightly older gen PowerVR GPU.)

Remember, you will be stuck with this phone for 2 years. As long as your current smartphone is functional, why not wait and get Note 3?? Yes, the screen is bigger, but it is NOT sure that the physical size of the phone will change much, if at all. Edge-to-edge technology etc. may allow Sammy to expand the screen to 5.9" while keeping phone size unchanged or minimally changed. Note 2 CPU/GPU is 2012. By end of this year, CPU/GPU of Note 2 will be seriously outdated.

Now, if you can get a great deal (aka FREE on contract) on Note 2 and don't care about heavy graphics games or having the latest, then GET Note 2 now and never look back.

BTW, if you have good ATT coverage, then why not end contract with Sprint and go to STraight Talk. Yes, you have to pay Note 2 at MSRP, but you will save in the long run.

Good luck in what you decide!

I don't believe it will be free with Sprint, my guess is $199 won't know until tomorrow when I check the Sprint website. I don't do any gaming, so no biggie there for me, but if I could only get a concrete date on the release date of the N III I might wait, don't know if I could wait months ;) :D My 3vo in running JB 4.2.2 and having no issues, but you know how it is. I had a Rep from Google come into my store and want me to set up my business for the free service and he had a Note II and that was when I saw it first and played with it and loved it. It will definitely be rooted as soon as I get it and I will not take the the OTA when I set it up if I decide to buy it now.

Well, if it helps...
If history repeats itself it will be announced in Q3 and released in Q4 which is the best guess most of us have at this point. I'm honestly waiting for the Note 3 myself.

There are so many roms, including ones with 4.2.2 you wont need to ever take any OTA..and, until Samsung actually announces what the Note3 is going to be, all the speculation is just that; speculation.
This phone will still be awesum 12 months from now...

Looks like Radio Shack is the cheapest at $199, 2 day FedEx. Someone on XDA said recently said they got a Note II for $99 a Walmart (I think that was new contract.) Good luck with whatever decision you make. :D

Thanks for reminding me that I have an upgrade tomorrow too. We got our Evo 3Ds at the same time. Mine still works perfectly, but looks pretty pathetic next to my Note II.

I have had touchscreen phones since the first HTC XDA win mobile stuff back in 2004ish. I personally think that the note 2 is the pinnacle that will not be beaten until they roll up with flexible screens and batteries and go in your pocket easier (or an idea that hasnt been thought of yet). Without a doubt there will be more processors, higher res screens, etc in the note 3 or whatever brand next generation but I feel that there will be nothing completely new to make this an obsolete phone. It will handle everything thrown at it.
GET ONE :D

OK, ordered the N II earlier this morning, instead of getting it through Sprint as they had it for $299 for upgrade and would not match other offers, I went with Radio Shack online as they had it on sale for upgrade and in white for $199, free shipping, so it is on it's way and will be here on Wednesday. will report back once I get it. Thanks to all for the info, appreciate it. ;)

Had I seen your post, I would've told you to hold off, Don...but, it's not a bad decision either. Not sure how Radio Shack's price match policy is, but before Best Buy changed their price matching policy recently, I ended up getting the Sprint Note 2 for $99.

Look into Radio Shack's policy, after the fact, and if they can price match within a certain amount of time, I'd just keep your eyes out for any deals that might come out that you can have them price match.
