Help Amber Alert on lockscreen, yellow icon in not. bar???(screenshot incl.)

Hey folks, 3 times today my Note 2 beeped (exactly like the broadcast sytem weather alert on a t.v. sound) and an "Emergency alert" window pops up on my lockscreen with some odd information that I know nothing about. Theres also a yellow message bubble/box with a white exclamation point in it in my notification bar. Any info on what this means or how I can stop it from happening (unless needed) in the future would be greatly appreicated!
Heres a screenshot I just took several minutes ago:

Do you have some sort of security app on your phone that might have a setting, giving you alerts of emergency announcements?

Or quite possibly, one of the apps you have installed, also has a air push ad add-on.

Drex, you da man! Ok, I actually feel better about it knowing it can help abducted children. I can actually understand the alert now: License plate #, year/make/model of vehicle involved in an abducted child report in Tampa, Fl.......Thank you greatly!!!

Yeah, as annoying as that can be, I think that is a great way to help law enforcement track down child abductors. With tons of nieces and nephews, this is a comforting safety measure and I'm glad Google was proactive in integrating it into their technologies

This is neat (the technology; not child abduction). Never knew Google did this. I am aware of Amber alert and its meaning behind it. I see and read about it often in news, etc. I know Highway messaging boards light up whenever an Amber alert is in effect. I think our public transportation system has it flashing as well. Glad to see more implementation of alerting more people about these alerts.

fricking Amber alert recently jolted me. I quickly found a way to prevent any further alerts. How annoying that mfgrs default our products to include these intrusive alerts. I am not a cop, nor a wannabe, and I don't go cruising around looking for "lost" (USUALLY kids taken during a custody dispute) kids. ridiculous. Let the police add more cops if they want to spend their money, time, resources on such stuff. At least the police have wised up about home burglar alarms. In my area they don't respond to them as most alarms are false. So are the so-called amber alerts.

Agreed. I don't need my phone going off with emergency alert sounds like the radio. If you are really keen on seeing these alerts, they have them plastered all over the highways and your local radio stations.

Like you said, most amber alerts with kids missing end up being someone from the family taking them without notifying their guardians.
