Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

I'd say it's worth it. Remember when the Instinct came out and Sprint wanted $200 (after rebates)? And they wanted $350 for the Touch Pro? The Incredible, though it's not the EVO, is a great piece of technology. It's got all the features the other phones on the market have, and a WiFi-N radio on top of that. If I didn't know the EVO was coming, I would consider leaving Sprint after all these years.

The problem is all those who don't know about the EVO yet looking for their next phone and seeing all this information popping up about the Droid and Incredible. They don't know something even better is just on the horizon. Sprint needs to start this full force ad campaign soon (tomorrow, hopefully) or they're going to lose a lot of current and potential customers who aren't aware.

If you don't live in a 4G area and don't want a 4.3 inch screen than going for the incredible would be a good decision. If you don't live in a 4G area then none of the "amazing" 4G features will work for you anyway so you'll basically have a desire/incredible/n1 with a larger screen until 4G is hooked up in your area. Well that with a nicer camera.

I heard Apple makes this really awesome phone, but I forgot what it was called. Everyone has one!!! You should get one!!

my only loyalty right now is with Sprint because i like their pricing/coverage/technology/4G/network/service/systems/website. i would consider an iPhone 4G if it were to show up on Sprint in addition to the EVO 4G. i'm platform/OS agnostic as long as they are GOOD.

however, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile are out of the question.

i need a modern 2010 smartphone. this Centro is a good little phone but i need more POWER.

i'm losing my patience waiting for this thing. i'm angry, tired, and bitter. and i'm starting to sour.

I would love to see Sprint pull a Verizon here...remember when they put out the Droid and then the "Droid Eris" as a more modest companion? I would love to see a dual launch of the Evo and Legend this summer on Sprint. Evo for those of us who have no problem paying $100 more for a bigger screen and higher specs and Legend for the folks who just want a slick, modern smart phone on a cheap provider. That kind of double whammy would be great.

Well guys, I have some news. Take it as you want to. In that E-mail i showed you all yesterday i showed you along with self praise that there was some doubt for tomorrow. I was talking to Dan today and he said while the media blitz may not actually begin tomorrow, and this is due to Sprint editing the commercials i have been told. Weird no???

However "something" is supposed to happen. I feel like a fortune teller i can tell you a name of someone who will be important in your life but i cant tell you what they will do. I'm sorry about this, i feel awful. If i find out what this "something" is ill post it asap

Thanks,

Jackson

720p video, a second front facing cam for possible video phone application, hdmi out to share videos and photos to another device...such as a tv....and yes....a larger screen. All good reasons to still enjoy this phone...even when not in a WiMax area. Oh...and a less expensive plan too?

With this said, yes...the Incredible is a very nice phone...with a great provider. I planned on buying two...for me and my wife and moving to Verizon. Heck...not 100% sure I won't reconsider...but as of now we really want to wait for this phone. Having a weak moment with all this Incredible news....hope the EVO 4G to comes out soon!!! :D

This is probably good news: we don't want a Palm Pre creepy lady disaster redux with the EVO.

Seriously? It has been 2 weeks. I have a Centro too, and it'll do just fine for a couple months until the Evo comes out. Besides, it's not like there was ever any indication that it would come out before "Summer 2010." If you're that anxious already, it's not Sprint's fault.

Yeah, lots of random April 16th talk but nothing concrete. DroidTalk says Best Buy pre-order on the 16th. Various forums list that as the 2.1 update for Hero. Other sites say there is an Evo announcement.

Well, maybe tomorrow will have some good news and maybe not. I should know better than to read these forums so much :) During Palm Pre silly season I spent so much time on the Precentral forums and eventually was treated with a mediocre phone. I need to just hold off until some real info comes out...too bad I get bored and like hunting down news.

The front facing camera probably will be useless until you get 4G, the 720p video recording is what I meant when I said nicer camera, the Incredible has an 8mp for still shots as well. The HDMI out is kinda an iffy thing, you have to buy an expensive cable just to use it and if it records 720p like other phones have then it's not something you'll really care about anyway as most have done a poor job with image quality and stabilization. To me if the video capture is just an HD jumpy mess then I sure wouldn't want to play it back on the tv.

Another thing that worries me about the 720p video recording is they haven't mentioned the frame rate it captures at, I hope it's at least 30 fps because the ones that do 20 fps look like crap.

to edit the release date? ;)

hopeful, I know

I like your thinking! :D

You know...if it's not about timing....I hope it's because they want to make their commercials really cool. Perhaps something like the Koreans have...with the Droid robot making sounds and farting? The Verizon Droid commercials are cool....so I think Sprint may want to up their game.
