The phone looks good and I'm super excited that they have a heart rate monitor coming out with it! I've been wanting a heart rate monitor that works with my phone for a while now and we will soon get it! Anyone else going to use the heart rate monitor with this phone?

I'm curious what this will track?

I'd really like something that will allow me to track core biometric values that you get with a physical every year (including lipid panel values) such as:

 • BMI
 • Blood Pressure
 • Blood Glucose
 • Good Cholesterol
 • Bad Cholesterol
 • Triglycerides
 • Other common items from yearly lipid panel

I'm curious what this will track?

BMI
You just need to know your height and weight. Then plug it into a formula (sorry can't recall the formula at the moment). There's also a BMI chart that can be used to determine BMI.

BMI categories are as follows:
 • Underweight = <18.5
 • Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
 • Overweight = 25–29.9
 • Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
Blood Pressure
If anything, it will be a separate unit. Also, a person needs to be properly trained to obtain more accurate readings. This includes knowing how to position the cuff, fasting, proper fitting of cuff, etc. I cannot see a phone being capable of accurately testing BP on it's own without proper sensors.

Blood Glucose
Again, it will be a separate unit. This is already done with the iPhone/iPad. Sanofi makes it called iBGStar.

Good Cholesterol
Bad Cholesterol
Triglycerides
Other common items from yearly lipid panel

There were self monitoring devices long ago, but no longer made or manufactured here in Canada. The problem is that some people think they can just use these monitoring devices and avoid seeing their physician or getting proper lab tests done on a regular basis.

The devices we have (especially glucometers) are allowed an accuracy to +/- 20% of the actual lab result. Yeah, so when a manufacturer states that it's 99% accurate, it means it's 99% accurate to the 20% margin of the actual lab result. Which is why you can't compare two different glucometers to check accuracy. You need to compare them to the actual lab result to determine accuracy.

Polar makes blue tooth hrm? How much was it and does it display your current heart rate at all times on your phone?
I use it with RunKeeper, it displays it, but, too small to see, but, RunKeeper calls out stats, including average heart rate, and current heart rate, if you select those as the voice cue's you want. So, in my case, it calls out my stats every 3 minutes.

Wish the phone, or a Pebble, or something would display it better!!!

This is the one I have:

Okay I have been using s health on the s4 since I got the phone on Saturday and I am loving it. I have been tracking my meals and I must say I love it. It works very well and I like how it tells me how many more calories I have left for the day. I have also been tracking my workouts but I don't like that it just guessed on how many calories burned. I would love to have that s band to tell me exactly how many calories I've burned.

So does anyone know when the workout accessories will be out in the USA? I'm anxious to use them.
