Root Huawei Ascend Mate Root guide

Requirement:
- Huawei Ascend Mate phone stock
- Driver for the phone. If you don't have it down load it https://www.dropbox.com/s/4qoacn4hqqw9h5v/WinDriver.exe

Root your phone:

- Enable ADB debugging on your phone
Go to Settings -> Developer options - > USB debugging and turn it on
- Download the package https://www.dropbox.com/s/0pblr115dr2l4zt/MATE_ROOT.zip

- Unzip the package you downloaded and click on "open it ROOT_MATE)

- An MS DOS window appears then click any key to continue

your phone will reboot and wait for the MS window said "successful and enjoy it" and click any key to finish.


- Download this file https://www.dropbox.com/s/omgdr4zkn224l9q/RootAssistantV2.0.apkand manually install it ( You must enable Unknown sources from your phone setting in order to install this file)

- After installing the file you will see the app with the wrench image click on it.

And you will see the Root option untick, tick it

Then the super user icon will show on your phone. That's it.


Install Google Play service on Huawei Ascend Mate:

Download the following zip file https://www.dropbox.com/s/ubql19m4k7y15ab/play_store_huawei.zip and extract them, then copy them to the internal storage or external SD card on your phone.

Using the file manager and go to the folder where you copied the extracted file to your phone. Manually install the Google play service first then Google play store. Now you can access the Google play store.

Currently There is no custom recovery built for Huawei Ascend Mate, but you can install Google play store so that you can download apps. I updated the step to install Google play on the fist post. I hope it helps

I just bought one from China, via AliExpress, and found out it was on Chinese ROM, no way to add Google account. And there is no app drawer as shown in your post.
Any suggestions? (I'm already exhausted from searching in internet, and found out your site is the most valuable).

There is no other ROM than the original stock ROM from Huawei. I am using Apex launcher that's why I have app drawer. Follow the stesp to install Google Play store manually then you can access the store

1. Did you install root assistant? Then just open the app and check ROOT option. the super user icon may be created on your other screen than the home screen.

2. I have also encountered the stop functioning error message but after a few reboots, It worked or you can try to install the google play store V 4.0.

Hello everyone, I am new to the forums and I had a question about the awesome Mate. I just imported it and am using it in the US on the ATT network getting 3G service on it. The only problem I have been encountering is that I am not able to send or receive image texts using the network. I am able to get images through watsapp and 3rd party messaging services, but not through the phones messaging app or through the official ATT text app. Can anyone help me out. I can go online, and have also updated Play store to 4.0, and the Amazon Marketplace app for android apps, all work fine, just no pic. texts. I have rooted the phone and am wondering if that could possibly be any part of the problem.

Authentication type: Blank
APN Type: default,supl,mms,hipri
APN protocol: leave as is

You can go to Android police web site to download Google Play store

Thanhdang, thank you so much for the APN settings, it still doesn't work tho. I did call tech support and they were not willing to help with APN settings, losers. Anyways, it is weird because I can receive images thru 'watsapp' app but not thru the texting app of the phone.

The error message will disappear after a few times after Google play app updates itself and download necessary files to function properly.

I've founded I need to go to recovery mode and use "factory reset" then error message disappeared after than. (root [Busybox ,SuperSU] app still work after this reset)

just put UPDATE.APP into dload folder ...move to sd card and press install via SD card.

Need to back up 1st , because it likely to be phone reset...

What are the changes with the new firmware?

Almost all Google service loaded fine.
However, I cannot sync Google contact, and cannot add GMail setting.

Did you try factory reset via recovery mode yet? Reset anytime might help , dont worry about google service will deleted after reset ...for me it still worked ...

So in stock form when you buy the phone, it does not have play store. But does it have google contacts, can you sync contacts in stock ?
