Major update to ESPN Scorecenter app today
ESPN Scorecenter for Android Receives Complete UI Overhaul – Droid Life

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.espn.score_center

It looks like they still haven't given us the ability to disable audio notifications. I don't understand how anyone could use the score notification feature without the ability to have silent notifications.

Anyone have any idea where I might be able to find the audio file they use for notifications? Maybe I can replace that with a null file and accomplish what I want that way. I don't recall if it also vibrates. If so, then I won't have a way around this. No, I'm not constantly going to adjust my system settings to accommodate this app. I have other apps I can use instead.

The app is really nice now otherwise. They even re-did the widget.

If the option's not there, I don't know if there's much you can do (short of rooting so you can cherry pick which permissions are denied to installed apps to prevent it from accessing your speakers). If you're rocking JB on your device, you do gave the ability to go into your phone's settings and look up the ESPN app and disable notification altogether. It's far from perfect, but you won't hear any notifications since they'll have been disabled.

You can't either change or disable the sound and you can't disable vibrate. With each new version, I email their support and complain. Must be India support as I've yet to get a coherent response back.

Also left a 1 star review. I'm actually surprised more people don't complain about it. I don't see many situations where someone could use this without this option.

downloaded this before reading this thread. thought it was a great app, until it played, da da da, da da da every time for a notification.

can't have this going off in meetings, etc. There is no way to turn this off!

How stupid are they. Will leave a 1 star review.
Write to them too. They have no interest in fixing this. I'm shocked that this isn't an issue for more people.

I'm in the same battle with the developers of TheScore. Scoremobile was recently re-branded with a revised app as TheScore. The old Scoremobile app allowed you to turn off sound/vibrate, but the new app does not. They are telling me they'll add the feature back, but it's been months now.

I really can't even comprehend how neither app has the ability to not play a sound/not vibrate. People who use these apps just don't care if their team is playing on the West Coast and is find with getting audio updates at 3am (or as you said, in meetings).

Lowering and raising the system notification volume constantly is absolutely not a solution.

I'm still using the last version of Scoremobile for my notifications. Will use that until they finally get around to adding this feature back in.

For what it's worth, here's the reply from TheScore dev on 3/12.

We appreciate how much you want this feature and trust me, you're not the only one who has requested its return. All I can say is that it's coming back but there is still no firm timetable for its inclusion as we are still trying to fix some performance issues some of our users are having. Once we have the performance issues ironed out and have it working on everyone's devices we will be addressing things like our settings.

ESPN dev has replied, but they either completely don't care or they don't understand English well and haven't comprehended what I'm asking for.
